The 2011 AirAsia Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom season will begin at Brands Hatch on 3 April and will finish after 16 races over 8 events at Brands Hatch on 2 October. The season will support rounds of the British Touring Car Championship. On 28 February, AirAsia X was announced as title sponsor to the series in a three-year deal. [1]

Brands Hatch race track

Brands Hatch is a motor racing circuit in West Kingsdown, Kent, England. First used as a grasstrack motorcycle circuit on farmland, it hosted 12 runnings of the British Grand Prix between 1964 and 1986 and currently hosts many British and International racing events. The venue is owned and operated by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation.

British Touring Car Championship auto racing championship in the United Kingdom

The British Touring Car Championship is a touring car racing series held each year in the United Kingdom, currently organised and administered by TOCA. It was established in 1958 as the British Saloon Car Championship and was renamed as the British Touring Car Championship for the 1987 season. The championship, currently running Next Generation Touring Car regulations, has been run to various national and international regulations over the years including FIA Group 2, FIA Group 5, FIA Group 1, FIA Group A, FIA Super Touring and FIA Super 2000. A lower-key Group N class for production cars ran from 2000 until 2003.

AirAsia X Malaysian Airline

AirAsia X Berhad, operating as AirAsia X, is a long-haul budget airline based in Malaysia, and a sister company of AirAsia. It commenced operations on 2 November 2007 with its first service flown from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia, to Gold Coast Airport in Australia. AirAsia X flies to destinations within Asia, Australia, and the United States of America. The airline operates a fleet of 22 aircraft and has placed orders for 76 more. Indonesia AirAsia X and Thai AirAsia X are affiliated with AirAsia X.

Rule changes

The 2011 season will see several rules introduced in an effort to cut costs for competitors to an annual budget of approximately £60,000. These changes including a reduction in the number of rounds from 20 to 16, a reduction in tyre allocation from 60 slick tyres per year to 48 and a reduction of official test days and a freedom of test venue introduced. Race calendar and results

The 2011 ToCA calendar was announced on 8 September 2010. [14] Renault have subsequently announced that the Clio Cup will support the BTCC at eight meetings. [2] Two non-championship races were held at the World Series by Renault meeting at Silverstone in conjunction with the Dutch Clio Cup. [15] Luke Wright won both races for the Scuderia Vittoria team, [16] but he was the only full-time competitor from the British series to take part.

Silverstone Circuit motor racing circuit on the Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire border, UK

Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England located next to the Northamptonshire villages of Silverstone and Whittlebury. The circuit straddles the Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire border, with the current main circuit entry on the Buckinghamshire side. The Northamptonshire towns of Towcester and Brackley and Buckinghamshire town of Buckingham are close by, and the nearest large towns are Northampton and Milton Keynes.

Scuderia Vittoria

Scuderia Vittoria is a British motor racing team. The team was formed in late 2010 and is the brainchild of ex-BTCC racers Tom Ferrier and Danny Buxton along with multiple GT and single-seater championship team manager, Piers Masarati. The Middlesex based team ran a Ferrari 458 GT3 and a Ginetta G50 GT4 car in the 2011 British GT season. They also fielded up to 4 Renault Clio's in the UK Renault Clio Cup series.

2010 British Touring Car Championship sports season

The 2010 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season was the 53rd British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season. It began at Thruxton Circuit on 4 April and finished after 30 races over ten events at Brands Hatch on 10 October.

The 2010 Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship was the 22nd British Formula Renault Championship. The season began at Thruxton on 3 April and ended on 10 October at Brands Hatch, after twenty rounds held in England, and for the first time since 2006, Scotland. Sam Tordoff British racing driver

Samuel Lewis "Sam" Tordoff is a British racing car driver. He has previously driven in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB but currently competes in the British Touring Car Championship for AmD Essex. He is the grandson of rally driver and car dealer Jack Tordoff. Tordoff finished second overall in the 2016 British Touring Car Championship, 2 points behind Gordon Shedden. Oliver Rowland British racing driver

Oliver Rowland is a British racecar driver. He is currently competing full-time in the 2018-19 Formula E season driving for Nissan e.Dams. It formed part of the extensive program of support categories built up around the BTCC centerpiece after signing a three year extension to be on the package until the end of 2016. It was the 19th Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom season, commencing on 30 March at Brands Hatch – on the circuit's Indy configuration – and concluded on 12 October at the same venue, utilising the Grand Prix circuit, after sixteen races held at eight meetings, all in support of the 2014 British Touring Car Championship season.

Jake Hill is a British racing driver who is currently competing in the British Touring Car Championship for Trade Price Cars Racing. He is the son of racing driver and motorsport commentator Simon Hill, has also driven for Team HARD, Rob Austin Racing and Motorbase Performance.

The championship features a mix of professional motor racing teams and privately funded drivers competing in the Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo EDC that conform to the technical regulations for the championship. It forms part of the extensive program of support categories built up around the BTCC. It will be the 20th Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom season and the 40th of UK motorsport undertaken by Renault and Renault Sport. The first race takes place on 5 April at Brands Hatch on the circuit's Indy configuration and concluded on 11 October at the same venue, utilising the Grand Prix circuit, after eighteen races held at nine meetings.

Josh Files

Joshua Luke Files is a British racing driver currently competing in the TCR International Series. Having previously competed in the Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom and Eurocup Clio amongst others. Files won both championships in 2013.

Team Pyro is a British auto racing team is competing in Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom and ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship in partnership with Target Competition. The team has competed in numerous series, including Blancpain Endurance Series, British GT Championship, Renault Clio Eurocup and Renault Clio Cup Italia among others. The team is also responsible for launching the careers of numerous British auto racing drivers such as Andrew Jordan, Jeff Smith, Ashley Sutton and Josh Files among others.
