The 2013 European F3 Open Championship was the fifth and final season European F3 Open Championship .

Despite missing the opening round of the season, Ed Jones of Team West-Tec was crowned champion by nine points on dropped scores over RP Motorsport driver Sandy Stuvik. The final championship standings were determined after two appeals had been lodged, [1] and upheld, with the Real Automóvil Club de España.

Race calendar and results

  • An eight-round provisional calendar was revealed on 2 November 2012. [2] This was modified on 7 February 2013, [3] after GT Sport organisers, for practical and technical reasons, moved the Algarve event one week earlier and replaced the Hungaroring event with a race in Jerez, moving it two weeks earlier. All rounds will support the International GT Open series.

The British Formula Three Championship was an international motor racing series that took place primarily in the United Kingdom with a small number of events in mainland Europe. It was a junior-level feeder formula that used small single seater Formula Three chassis. Its final official title was the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series. Notable former champions included Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, Nelson Piquet, Ayrton Senna, Mika Häkkinen, Rubens Barrichello, Takuma Sato, and Daniel Ricciardo.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ferrari 333 SP</span>

The Ferrari 333 SP is a sports prototype race car that was built by Italian race car manufacturer Dallara and later Michelotto to compete in the World Sports Car championship for Ferrari. Unveiled at the end of 1993, at the behest of amateur racer Giampiero Moretti, the 333 SP marked Ferrari's official return to sports car racing after a 20-year absence. The car was built to compete in the IMSA's new WSC class, which replaced the previous GTP cars.

The Formula 3 Euro Series was a European-based junior single seater formula for Formula Three chassis that was launched in 2003 as a merger of the French Formula Three Championship and German Formula Three Championship. The Formula Three category, including this championship, is part of the established career ladder up which European drivers progress to the Formula One world championship, the highest form of single seater racing defined by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motorsport's world governing body.

The Euroformula Open Championship is a junior formula racing series based in Spain. It was one of six national and international Formula Three championships in Europe and Scandinavia that together used to form an important part of the established "career ladder" below Formula One. The championship's first season was held in 2001. In 2006, it was branded as the Spanish F3 Championship by Toyota, in deference to its sole engine supplier. In 2020, the championship ceased to be a F3-championship and will share its specifications with Japan's Super Formula Lights based on the previous-generation Formula Three standards, primarily with a choice of engines.

The BOSS GP Series is a motor racing series in Europe. The category originated in 1995 as the BOSS Formula series and evolved into the EuroBOSS Series.

The German Formula Three Championship was the national Formula Three championship of Germany, and the former West Germany, from 1950 to 2002, then as Formel 3 until 2014. In 2003, the series had merged with the French Formula Three Championship to form the Formula 3 Euro Series. The lower-level series, the ATS Formel 3 Cup, subsequently operated in Germany, but it folded after the end of the 2014 season. Since the late 1980s, the list of German F3 champions has included many notable drivers, including Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher and nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen.

The FIA Formula 3 European Championship was a European Formula Three(F3) auto racing competition, organised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). After one season of the FIA Formula 3 International Trophy, the FIA revived the FIA Formula 3 European Championship. The ten-event season included seven Formula 3 Euro Series rounds, two British Formula Three rounds and DTM-supporting round at Brands Hatch. From 2013, the series started running its own rounds, based upon the defunct Formula 3 Euro Series.

The 2009 European F3 Open Championship was the first season with the new championship denomination after eight seasons of the Spanish Formula Three Championship. It began on 2 May 2009 in Valencia and will end on 1 November in Montmeló after 16 rounds in five different countries. The main Class A title was claimed by Bruno Méndez, holding off Celso Míguez by just two points. Callum MacLeod won the secondary Copa F306/300, as well as finishing ninth in the overall championship. Méndez's team Campos Racing also claimed the teams title, beating main rivals Drivex by seven points.

The 2010 European F3 Open Championship was the second European F3 Open Championship season. The season began on 17 April at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, and finished on 31 October at Circuit de Catalunya in Montmeló after 16 races run at eight meetings, four held in Spain, as well as meetings held in Belgium, France, the United Kingdom and Italy.

The 2011 European F3 Open Championship was the third European F3 Open Championship season. The season began on 17 April at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, and finished on 30 October at Circuit de Catalunya in Montmeló after 16 races run at eight meetings, three held in Spain, as well as meetings held in Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and Italy.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Dallara 3087</span>

The Dallara 3087 is a Formula 3000 car, first used in the 1987 International Formula 3000 season, with which the BMS Scuderia Italia team competed in the first race of the 1988 Formula One season. Driven by Alex Caffi, it failed to pass pre-qualifying with its fastest time being 18 seconds slower than the time set by Ayrton Senna for pole position. The BMS Scuderia Italia team replaced the car for the next race with Dallara F188 which was specifically designed for Formula One.

The 2012 European F3 Open Championship was the fourth European F3 Open Championship season. The series introduced the new Dallara F312 cars for Class A, with the F308 model being implemented for the Copa Class.

The 2014 Euroformula Open Championship was a multi-event motor racing championship for single-seat open wheel formula racing cars that was held across Europe. The championship featured drivers competing in two-litre Formula Three racing cars built by Italian constructor Dallara which conformed to the technical regulations, or formula, for the championship. It was the first edition of the Euroformula Open Championship – following a name change in February 2014 – after five seasons at the European F3 Open Championship. It is also included a revived three-round Spanish Formula Three Championship, held within the season calendar.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Dallara F317</span> Italian Formula Three race car

The Dallara F317 is an open-wheel racing car developed by Italian manufacturer Dallara for use in all Formula Three categories. The F317 is the thirty-seventh car used by the FIA-sanctioned Formula Three championships. Although the F317 is only an aero-upgraded F312 chassis, it works as a replacement for the aging Dallara F312 chassis. However, some series like the Euroformula Open Championship opted for a slightly upgraded F312 chassis instead of the F317 package to keep costs low.

The Dallara F3 2019 is an open-wheel racing car developed by Italian manufacturer Dallara for use in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, a feeder series for Formula One. The F3 2019 is the first car used by the FIA Formula 3 Championship and was introduced for the championship's inaugural season. As the Formula 3 Championship is a spec series, the F3 2019 is raced by every team and driver competing in the series. The F3 2019 was unveiled at the weekend of the final GP3 Series round in Abu Dhabi in November 2018 and later made its first public appearance when teams contesting the inaugural championship completed a test day at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in February 2019.

Super Formula Lights is a national formula racing championship that takes place in Japan. It is a junior-level feeder formula that uses the same single seater chassis as the pan-European Euroformula Open Championship. The series will be the first with the new branding as a feeder series for the Super Formula championship. The nomenclature is similar to that of IndyCar, whose support series also uses the "Lights" moniker.
