The 2012 season was Terengganu's 2nd season in the Malaysia Super League, and their 18th consecutive season in the top-flight of Malaysian football. In addition, they were competing in the domestic tournaments, the 2012 Malaysia FA Cup and the 2012 Malaysia Cup

The 2013 Piala Malaysia group stage featured 16 teams. The teams were drawn into fourth groups of four, and played each other home-and-away in a round-robin format. The top two teams in each group advanced to the 2013 Piala Malaysia quarter finals.

The 2014 season was Terengganu's 4th season in the Malaysia Super League, and their 19th consecutive season in the top-flight of Malaysian football. In addition, they were competing in the domestic tournaments, the 2013 Malaysia FA Cup and the 2013 Malaysia Cup

The 2014 Malaysia FA Cup, also known as the Astro Piala FA due to the competition's sponsorship by Astro Arena, was the 25th season of the Malaysia FA Cup, a knockout competition for Malaysia's state football association and clubs.

The 2014 season is Johor Darul Takzim F.C.' 2nd season in the Malaysia Super League after rebranding their name from Johor FC.

The 2014 Selangor FA Season is Selangor FA's 9th season playing soccer in the Malaysia Super League since its inception in 2004. This was Mehmet Durakovic's first season as manager and coach of the team. He replaced the interim manager, P. Maniam, who in turn had been serving in that capacity after Irfan Bakti Abu Salim resigned in 2013.

They also competed in the three domestic cups: the Malaysia FA Cup, the Malaysia Cup and the Malaysia Charity Shield.

The 2016 Malaysia FA Cup was the 27th season of the Malaysia FA Cup, a knockout competition for Malaysia's state football association and clubs. It was sponsored by Kopi Superbest Power, and was known as the Superbest Power Piala FA due to sponsorship purposes. LionsXII were the defending champions after beating Kelantan 3–1 in the previous season, but did not compete in this edition.

The 2017 season was Johor Darul Ta'zim Football Club's 44th season in club history and 5th season in the 2017 Liga Super after rebranding their name from Johor FC.

The 2017 Malaysia FA Cup was the 28th season of the Malaysia FA Cup a knockout competition for Malaysia's state football association and clubs. The final was played between Pahang and Kedah at the Shah Alam Stadium in Shah Alam, Selangor. Kedah beat Pahang 2–3 to win the cup for the fourth time.

The 2018 Malaysia FA Cup was the 29th season of the Malaysia FA Cup, a knockout competition for Malaysia's state football association and clubs.
