Baseball statistics include a variety of metrics used to evaluate player and team performance in the sport of baseball.
The Seattle Mariners 1998 season was their 22nd season, and was the final year in which Kingdome was the home venue for the entire season. Their record was 76–85 (.472) and they finished in third place in the four-team American League West, 11½ games behind the champion Texas Rangers.
The 2004 Chicago White Sox season was the White Sox's 105th season, and their 104th season in Major League Baseball. They finished with a record of 83–79, good enough for second place in the American League Central, 9 games behind the champion Minnesota Twins.
The 1963 Los Angeles Dodgers were led by pitcher Sandy Koufax, who won both the Cy Young Award and the Most Valuable Player Award. The team went 99–63 to win the National League title by six games over the runner-up St. Louis Cardinals and beat the New York Yankees in four games to win the World Series, marking the first time that the Yankees were ever swept in the postseason.
The 1928 Brooklyn Robins finished in sixth place, despite pitcher Dazzy Vance leading the league in strikeouts for a seventh straight season as well as posting a career best 2.09 ERA.
The 2000 Chicago White Sox season was the White Sox's 101st season. They finished the regular season with a 95 wins and 67 losses record, good enough for first place in the American League Central, 5 games ahead of the 2nd place Cleveland Indians. In addition to reaching the postseason for the first time since 1993, the White Sox had the best record in the American League for the sixth time in franchise history and the first since 1983. They lost in the 2000 American League Division Series to the Seattle Mariners in a three game sweep.
The 1982 Chicago White Sox season was their 82nd season in the major leagues, and 83rd season overall. The White Sox finished at 87–75 (.537), third in the American League West, six games behind the division champion California Angels.
The 1969 Chicago White Sox season was the team's 69th season in the major leagues, and its 70th season overall. They finished with a record of 68–94, good enough for fifth place in the newly established American League West, 29 games behind the first-place Minnesota Twins.
The 1999 Cleveland Indians are the only team in Major League Baseball since 1950 to score over 1,000 runs during the regular season. They were shut out only three times in 162 games. Five Indians scored at least 100 runs and four drove in at least 100 runs. Right fielder Manny Ramirez drove in 165 runs, the most by any MLB player since Jimmie Foxx in 1938.
The 2001 Cleveland Indians season was the 101st season for the franchise.
The 2012 Seattle Mariners season was the 36th season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 13th full season at Safeco Field and finished with a record of 75–87, fourth place in the American League West.
The 2013 Seattle Mariners season was the 37th season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 14th full season at Safeco Field. They finished with a record of 71–91 and fourth place in the American League West.
The 2015 Oakland Athletics season was the 48th for the franchise in Oakland, as well as the 115th in club history.
The 2015 Seattle Mariners season was the 39th season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 16th full season at Safeco Field and finished the season with a record of 76–86.
The 2017 Seattle Mariners season was the 41st season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 18th full season at Safeco Field and finished with a record of 78–84. They failed to qualify for the postseason, extending their drought to 16 years. In addition to being the longest current streak in MLB, the drought became the longest currently in the four major North American professional sports when the National Football League's Buffalo Bills made it to the playoffs in December of that year.
The 2020 Seattle Mariners season was the 44th season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 21st full season at T-Mobile Park, their home ballpark. The Mariners entered this season with the longest active playoff drought in the four major North American professional sports leagues, attempting to make their first postseason since 2001. They also entered this season as the only team to not win a league pennant.
The 2021 Baltimore Orioles season was the 121st season in Baltimore Orioles franchise history, the 68th in Baltimore, and the 30th at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. They significantly failed at attempting to improve on their 25–35 (.417) record from the previous year. The Orioles endured two different losing streaks of 14 or more between the middle and the end of May, as well as between August 3 and August 24. The Orioles pitching staff combined for a franchise-worst ERA of 5.84 and yielded 911 earned runs in the season, which led MLB and was the most earned runs surrendered by a pitching staff since the 2001 Texas Rangers allowed 913 earned runs. All of the team's pitchers that made a start finished the season with a losing record. The Orioles were eliminated from playoff contention on August 28 with their loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. They suffered their 3rd 100+ loss season in four years with their loss to the Boston Red Sox on September 17. With the Orioles loss in the season finale against the Blue Jays, they suffered their second 110-loss season in team history; it was also the third such season in overall franchise history, going back to their time as the St. Louis Browns.
The 2021 Seattle Mariners season was the 45th season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 22nd full season at T-Mobile Park, their home ballpark in Seattle, Washington. The M's entered this season with the longest active playoff drought in the four major North American professional sports leagues, attempting to make their first postseason in twenty years. Seattle is the only current Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise without a World Series appearance. Despite posting a 90–72 record, their best since the 2003 season, the Mariners were eliminated from postseason contention for the 20th consecutive season after Boston swept the Washington Nationals to clinch the wild card berth and the Yankees clinched the remaining wild card spot on the last day of the season. This season was the second time during their drought that they’d won two more regular season games than the World Series champions.
The 2023 Seattle Mariners season was the 47th season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 24th full season at T-Mobile Park, their home ballpark in Seattle, Washington. Despite Seattle having shown signs of competitiveness, and having a 90.2% chance to make the playoffs on September 2 while having 1st place in the AL West, the Mariners missed the playoffs for the 22nd time in 23 seasons.
