The 2014 Texas Rangers season was the Rangers' 54th season of the franchise and the 43rd since the team relocated to Arlington, Texas. The Rangers suffered from injuries throughout the season and spent a substantial part of the season in last place in the American League West, at one point having a streak of 8–34. Manager Ron Washington resigned on September 5, 2014, citing personal issues. Despite finishing the season with a 13–3 stretch, The Rangers were unable to escape the American League cellar, but did manage to finish 67–95 and third worst in Major League Baseball (MLB), ahead of the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks of the National League.
The Rangers used 40 different pitchers during the season, thus setting a new MLB record. [1] [2] The team played seven extra inning games, the fewest of any MLB team in 2014. [3]

The 1991 Boston Red Sox season was the 91st season in the franchise's Major League Baseball history. The Red Sox finished tied for second in the American League East with a record of 84 wins and 78 losses, seven games behind the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Texas Rangers 1983 season involved the Rangers finishing third in the American League West with a record of 77 wins and 85 losses. The Rangers did break a Major League Baseball record for the most runs ever scored by one team during a single extra inning.
The 2003 Chicago White Sox season was the White Sox's 104th season. They finished with a record of 86–76, good enough for second place in the American League Central, four games behind the champion Minnesota Twins.
The 2008 Milwaukee Brewers season opened with optimism as the team attempted to build on the success of the 2007 season – their first winning season since 1992.
The 2010 Chicago Cubs season was the 139th season of the Chicago Cubs franchise, the 135th in the National League and the 95th at Wrigley Field. The Cubs finished fifth in the National League Central with a record of 75–87.
The Baltimore Orioles' 2012 season was the 112th season in franchise history, the 59th in Baltimore, and the 21st at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. They completed the regular season with a 93–69 record, good for second place in the AL East and qualified for one of two American League wild card spots. It was the first time since 1997 that they finished with a winning record and made the playoffs. They subsequently defeated the Texas Rangers in the inaugural one-game Wild Card Playoff. They advanced to play the New York Yankees in the Division Series, but lost the series to the Yankees in five games. The smiling cartoon bird head returned to the ballclub's caps and helmets after a 23-year absence.
The Arizona Diamondbacks' 2013 season, was the franchise's 16th season in Major League Baseball and also their 16th season at Chase Field.
The 2014 Cleveland Indians season was the 114th season for the franchise. They finished in third place, five games back in the American League Central.
The 2015 Seattle Mariners season was the 39th season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 16th full season at Safeco Field and finished the season with a record of 76–86.
The 2015 Atlanta Braves season was the Braves' 19th season of home games at Turner Field, 50th season in Atlanta, and 145th season overall.
The 2016 Los Angeles Angels season was the franchise's 56th season and 51st in Anaheim. They finished in fourth place in the American League West and did not make the playoffs.
The 2017 Cleveland Indians season was the 117th season for the franchise. It was the fifth season under the leadership of manager Terry Francona and second under general manager Mike Chernoff. The team entered as the defending American League champion and World Series runner-up. The Indians played all of their home games at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
The 2017 Oakland Athletics season was the 50th for the Oakland Athletics franchise in Oakland, as well as the 117th in club history. The A's began the season on April 3 at home against Los Angeles Angels and finished the season at the Texas Rangers on October 1. They finished the season in last place in the American League West and did not make the playoffs for the third consecutive season, but did finish the season on a strong note with a winning record in September.
The 2017 Seattle Mariners season was the 41st season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 18th full season at Safeco Field and finished with a record of 78–84. They failed to qualify for the postseason, extending their drought to 16 years. In addition to being the longest current streak in MLB, the drought became the longest currently in the four major North American professional sports when the National Football League's Buffalo Bills made it to the playoffs in December of that year.
The Tampa Bay Rays 2018 season was the Rays' 21st season of Major League Baseball, and the 11th as the "Rays". The Rays played this season with few starting pitchers. Many games were started by pitchers normally used in relief, referred to as openers. This approach saw the Rays set MLB single season records for most no decisions by starters (91) and most wins by relievers (55). They finished the season with a 90–72 record, their first winning season since 2013; however, for the fifth consecutive year, they failed to make the postseason. This was because the Red Sox had 108 wins for the division title, while the Yankees had 100 wins and the Athletics had 97 wins for the wild card.
The 2018 San Francisco Giants season was the Giants' 136th year in Major League Baseball, their 60th year in San Francisco since their move from New York following the 1957 season, and their 19th at AT&T Park.
The 2018 Houston Astros season was the 57th season for the Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise in Houston, Texas, their 54th as the Astros, sixth in both the American League and American League West, and 19th at Minute Maid Park. The Astros were the defending World Series champions, after winning the 2017 World Series four games to three over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Houston began the season March 29 against the Texas Rangers and finished the season on September 30 against the Baltimore Orioles, capping off an unprecedented second consecutive 100-win season.
The 2020 Texas Rangers season was the 60th of the Texas Rangers franchise overall, their 49th in Arlington as the Rangers, and the inaugural season at the newly constructed Globe Life Field.
