The 2019 Seattle Mariners season was the 43rd season in franchise history. The Mariners played their twentieth full season and twenty-first overall at newly renamed T-Mobile Park, their home ballpark. The Mariners entered the season with the longest active playoff drought in the four major North American professional sports and again failed to make their first postseason appearance since 2001. [1] The Mariners started the season with a 13–2 record, their best start in franchise history. However, they went 55–92 after their great start, finishing last in the American League West for the first time since 2012 and falling out of the playoffs once again.
With the Washington Nationals winning the World Series during the 2019 postseason, the Mariners now hold the dubious distinction of being the only MLB franchise to have never played in the World Series.
Ichiro Suzuki played his final MLB game in the second game of the season.

The 2014 Toronto Blue Jays season was the 38th season for the franchise, and the 25th full season of play at Rogers Centre. Pitcher Roy Halladay signed a one-day contract with the Blue Jays before retiring from baseball, citing injuries.
The 2015 Seattle Mariners season was the 39th season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 16th full season at Safeco Field and finished the season with a record of 76–86.
The 2017 Kansas City Royals season was the 49th season for the franchise, and their 45th at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals opened the season at the Minnesota Twins on April 3, 2017 and finished the season at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks on October 1. They failed to make the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
The 2017 Seattle Mariners season was the 41st season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 18th full season at Safeco Field and finished with a record of 78–84. They failed to qualify for the postseason, extending their drought to 16 years. In addition to being the longest current streak in MLB, the drought became the longest currently in the four major North American professional sports when the National Football League's Buffalo Bills made it to the playoffs in December of that year.
The 2017 Cincinnati Reds season was the 148th season for the franchise in Major League Baseball, and their 15th at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. The Reds opened the season with a game against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 3 at the Great American Ball Park and finished the season on October 1 against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The Reds were eliminated from postseason playoff consideration on September 14, 2017. They equaled their record from the previous season and finished last in the National League Central for the third straight year and missed the playoffs for the fourth straight year.
The 2018 Seattle Mariners season was the 42nd season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 19th full season at Safeco Field, their home ballpark. After the Buffalo Bills of the NFL clinched a playoffs spot for the first time since 1999, The Mariners entered this season with the longest active playoff drought in the four major North American professional sports, failing to make their first postseason appearance since 2001. At several points in the season, the Mariners were 10 games ahead of the Oakland Athletics in the AL Wild Card race, but ended up finishing eight games behind them. The Mariners were eliminated from playoff contention on September 22 with the Athletics win against the Minnesota Twins. The Mariners began the season on March 29, 2018 against the Cleveland Indians and finished the season on September 30 against the Texas Rangers.
The 2019 Arizona Diamondbacks season was the franchise's 21st season in Major League Baseball and their 21st season at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona as members of the National League West. They were managed by Torey Lovullo in his third season with the franchise.
The 2020 Minnesota Twins season was the 60th season for the Minnesota Twins franchise in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, their 11th season at Target Field and the 120th overall in the American League. It was the team's second year under manager Rocco Baldelli.
The 2020 Seattle Mariners season was the 44th season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 21st full season at T-Mobile Park, their home ballpark. The Mariners entered this season with the longest active playoff drought in the four major North American professional sports leagues, attempting to make their first postseason since 2001. They also entered this season as the only team to not win a league pennant.
The 2021 Baltimore Orioles season was the 121st season in Baltimore Orioles franchise history, the 68th in Baltimore, and the 30th at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. They significantly failed at attempting to improve on their 25–35 (.417) record from the previous year. The Orioles endured two different losing streaks of 14 or more between the middle and the end of May, as well as between August 3 and August 24. The Orioles pitching staff combined for a franchise-worst ERA of 5.84 and yielded 911 earned runs in the season, which led MLB and was the most earned runs surrendered by a pitching staff since the 2001 Texas Rangers allowed 913 earned runs. All of the team's pitchers that made a start finished the season with a losing record. The Orioles were eliminated from playoff contention on August 28 with their loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. They suffered their 3rd 100+ loss season in four years with their loss to the Boston Red Sox on September 17. With the Orioles loss in the season finale against the Blue Jays, they suffered their second 110-loss season in team history; it was also the third such season in overall franchise history, going back to their time as the St. Louis Browns.
The 2021 Los Angeles Angels season was the 61st season of the Angels franchise in the American League, the 56th in Anaheim, and their 56th season playing their home games at Angel Stadium. The Angels were managed by Joe Maddon in his second season as manager of the Angels. They play their home games at Angel Stadium as members of Major League Baseball's American League West Division. On September 21, the Angels were eliminated from the postseason. This was the seventh straight season without making the postseason and the sixth in a row with a losing record.

The M's entered this season with the longest active playoff drought in the four major North American professional sports leagues, attempting to make their first postseason in twenty years. Seattle is the only current Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise without a World Series appearance. Despite posting a 90–72 record, their best since the 2003 season, the Mariners were eliminated from postseason contention for the 20th consecutive season after Boston swept the Washington Nationals to clinch the wild card berth and the Yankees clinched the remaining wild card spot on the last day of the season. This season was the second time during their drought that they’d won two more regular season games than the World Series champions.
The 2022 Los Angeles Angels season was the 62nd season of the Los Angeles Angels franchise in the American League, the 57th in Anaheim, and their 57th season playing their home games at Angel Stadium. The Angels were managed by Joe Maddon in his third season as manager of the Angels. On June 7, 2022, Maddon was fired and Phil Nevin was named the interim manager for the remainder of the season after they had lost twelve games in a row, tying a record set by the 1988 team. Losses on the 7th and 8th resulted in a losing streak of fourteen in a row, setting a franchise record. After a brawl occurred during a game between the Seattle Mariners and Angels on June 26 that saw players and coaches receive suspensions, Bill Haselman and Ray Montgomery each served as interim managers to the interim manager when Nevin received a ten-game suspension. The Angels play as members of Major League Baseball's American League West division. On September 14, the Angels lost their 82nd game to clinch a losing season for the seventh straight season, tying the mark set by the 1971-1977 teams. With their loss to the Seattle Mariners on September 19, the Los Angeles Angels were officially eliminated from playoff contention.
The 2022 Pittsburgh Pirates season was the franchise's 141st season overall, 136th season as a member of the National League, and 22nd season at PNC Park.
The 2022 Seattle Mariners season was the 46th season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 23rd full season at T-Mobile Park, their home ballpark in Seattle, Washington. The Mariners finished the regular season at 90–72, equaling their record from 2021, and successfully reached the postseason for the first time since 2001.
The 2022 American League Wild Card Series were two best-of-three playoff series in Major League Baseball (MLB) that determined the participating teams of the 2022 American League Division Series (ALDS). Both Wild Card Series began on October 7, with Game 2s scheduled for October 8. ESPN broadcast both Wild Card Series in the United States together with ESPN Radio. For the first time, Canadian rightsholder Sportsnet – a sibling property to the Toronto Blue Jays under Rogers Communications – was allowed to produce its own broadcast of a Blue Jays postseason series; previously, it was required to simulcast a U.S. or MLB International broadcast. The 2023 Los Angeles Angels season was the 63rd season of the Los Angeles Angels franchise in the American League, the 58th in Anaheim, and their 58th season playing their home games at Angel Stadium. Chasing history to try and reach their first playoff appearance since 2014, the Angels started 40–32, but subsequently collapsed and, on September 16, the Angels were eliminated from postseason contention, for the ninth straight year. They repeat their record from the previous year, which was 73–89. They set a mark with their eighth consecutive losing season, eclipsing the mark previously set by the 1971–1977 teams.
The 2023 Texas Rangers season was the 63rd of the Texas Rangers franchise overall, their 52nd in Arlington as the Rangers, and the fourth season at Globe Life Field. It was also the team's first season under the management of Bruce Bochy.
The 2023 Seattle Mariners season was the 47th season in franchise history. The Mariners played their 24th full season at T-Mobile Park, their home ballpark in Seattle, Washington. Despite Seattle having shown signs of competitiveness, and having a 90.2% chance to make the playoffs on September 2 while having 1st place in the AL West, the Mariners missed the playoffs for the 22nd time in 23 seasons.
The 2023 Cleveland Guardians season was the 123rd season for the franchise, which competed in the American League of Major League Baseball (MLB). This was the franchise's second season using the "Guardians" nickname, and 11th and final season under manager Terry Francona, the longest-tenured manager in MLB entering the 2023 season. They entered the season as the defending American League Central champions. The team opened the regular season on March 30, losing on the road against the Seattle Mariners, and concluded the regular season on October 1, losing on the road against the Detroit Tigers. They failed to improve on their 92–70 record from the 2022 season, and failed to qualify for the playoffs.
