The 2015 NCAA Division I men's soccer season was the 57th season of NCAA championship men's college soccer. The regular season began on August 28 and continues into November 2015. The season culminated with the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship in December 2015. There were 206 teams in men's Division I competition. [1] The defending champions were Virginia who defeated UCLA 0–0 (4–2 PKs) to win its seventh NCAA soccer title. [2] The season concluded with Stanford defeating Clemson 4–0 to win its first championship.

Conference realignment

Northern Kentucky Atlantic Sun Conference Horizon League

NJIT, previously the only Division I basketball independent, played the 2014 season as a single-sport member of the Sun Belt Conference. Although NJIT replaced Northern Kentucky in the Atlantic Sun Conference (A-Sun) in July 2015, the men's soccer team remained in the Sun Belt for the 2015 season due to contractual commitments to that league. NJIT men's soccer will join the A-Sun in 2016. [21]

Additionally, the 2015 season was the last for Coastal Carolina in the Big South Conference. The Chanticleers will join the Sun Belt Conference on July 1, 2016, in all sports except football, with that team joining the conference a year later. The arrival of Coastal Carolina will maintain the Sun Belt at six men's soccer members, preserving the league's automatic NCAA tournament berth. [22]

The NJIT Highlanders, formerly the New Jersey Tech Highlanders, are the varsity sport members of the Division I NCAA-affiliated sports teams of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). There are ten men's teams, seven women's teams, and three club teams along with a variety of intramural teams. The school's primary conference is the America East Conference. In November 2017 NJIT opened the Wellness and Events Center (WEC) which incorporates upgraded facilities for most Division 1 sports including a 3,500-seat arena for basketball and volleyball.

Larry Dan Tidwell, is the head coach for the Dallas Christian College women’s basketball team. Before moving to Kansas, he served as women's basketball head coach from 2013–2018 at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley, having been retained when his former institution, the University of Texas–Pan American (UTPA), merged with the University of Texas at Brownsville. Prior to this position, he was head coach of the Lamar Lady Cardinals basketball team for six seasons from 2007–2013, as well as the Lamar athletics director from June 2010 to May 2011.

The UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team, or UTRGV Vaqueros, represents the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Western Athletic Conference. They play their home games at the UTRGV Fieldhouse. The Vaqueros are one of 45 Division I programs to have never appeared in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">American South Conference</span>

The American South Conference was an NCAA Division I athletic conference that existed from 1987–88 to 1990–91. The charter members were Arkansas State University, Lamar University, Louisiana Tech University, the University of New Orleans, the University of Southwestern Louisiana and the University of Texas–Pan American. The University of Central Florida (UCF) became the only expansion school during the conference's final academic season before merging with the Sun Belt Conference. The Sun Belt, which was losing all but three members, merged with the American South conference. The combined conference retained the name of the older Sun Belt Conference. Craig Thompson, the American South's first and only commissioner, became commissioner of the merged Sun Belt. After serving as Sun Belt commissioner for eight years, he became commissioner of the newly formed Mountain West Conference in 1998.

The Texas–Pan American Broncs were the varsity athletic teams representing University of Texas–Pan American in Edinburg, Texas in intercollegiate athletics. The university sponsored 15 teams including men and women's basketball, cross country, golf, tennis, and track and field ; soccer and volleyball for women only; and baseball for men only. The last varsity sport to be established for the Broncs was women's soccer, added for the 2014 season, with men's soccer added in 2015, the year that the merger took place. The Broncs compete in the NCAA Division I and are currently members of the Western Athletic Conference.

The West Virginia Mountaineers men's soccer team is the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I soccer team of West Virginia University (WVU). Beginning with the 2012 season, the team was an affiliate member of the Mid-American Conference because WVU is the only school in its primary conference, the Big 12 Conference, that has a varsity men's soccer team. For the 2022 season, West Virginia joined in-state rival Marshall in the Sun Belt Conference, and the Mountain State Derby will become an annual conference game. WVU had been scheduled to leave the MAC for Conference USA but this plan was changed when Marshall changed conferences from CUSA to the SBC.

The Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros baseball team, or the UTRGV Vaqueros, is the varsity intercollegiate baseball team of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, an NCAA Division I institution with several campuses in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, United States. UTRGV was formally founded in 2013 with the announced merger of the University of Texas–Pan American (UTPA), with its main campus in Edinburg, and the University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB) in Brownsville, with the merged university beginning operation in the 2015–16 school year. The Vaqueros compete in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), play home games at UTRGV Baseball Stadium in Edinburg, and are coached by Derek Matlock.

The 2013 NCAA Division I men's soccer season was the 55th season of NCAA championship men's college soccer. There were 203 teams in men's Division I competition. The defending champions were the Indiana Hoosiers who defeated the Georgetown Hoyas in the 2012 College Cup. The season concluded with Notre Dame defeating Maryland 2–1 to win its first NCAA soccer title.

The 2014 NCAA Division I men's soccer season was the 56th season of NCAA championship men's college soccer. The regular season began in late August 2014 and continued into November 2014. The season culminated with the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship in December 2014. There are 205 teams in men's Division I competition. The defending champions were the Notre Dame Fighting Irish who won its first NCAA soccer title by defeating the Maryland 2-1 in the 2013 College Cup. The season concluded with Virginia defeating UCLA 0–0 to win its seventh NCAA soccer title.

The 2015 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began in February 2015. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2015 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2015 College World Series. The College World Series, consisting of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament and held annually in Omaha, Nebraska, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, ended on June 24, 2015, with the final game of the best-of-three championship series between Vanderbilt and Virginia, won by Virginia.

The UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros is a collegiate athletic program that represents the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). The Vaqueros inherited the NCAA Division I status of the Texas–Pan American Broncs and compete in the Western Athletic Conference.

The Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's basketball team is the intercollegiate women's basketball program representing the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. The school competes in the Western Athletic Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Vaqueros play home basketball games at the UTRGV Fieldhouse on the university campus in Edinburg, Texas.

The 2016 NCAA Division I men's soccer season was the 58th season of NCAA championship men's college soccer. The regular season began on August 26 and continued into the first weekend of November 2016. The season culminated with the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship in December 2016. There were 206 teams in men's Division I competition. The defending champions were Stanford who defeated Clemson 4–0 to win its first NCAA soccer title. The season concluded with Stanford defending its title by defeating Wake Forest 5–4 in a penalty kick shootout following a 0–0 double-overtime draw.

The Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's soccer program represents the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in all NCAA Division I men's college soccer competitions. Founded in 1987, and relaunched in 2015, the Vaqueros compete as associate members in the Western Athletic Conference. They are coached by Bryheem Hancock . Vaqueros plays their home matches at the UTRGV Soccer and Track & Field Complex.

The UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball statistical leaders are individual statistical leaders of the Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball program in various categories, including points, three-pointers, assists, blocks, rebounds, and steals. Within those areas, the lists identify single-game, single-season, and career leaders. The Vaqueros represent the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) in the NCAA Division I Western Athletic Conference.
