The 2017 Americas Rugby League Championship was the second tri-nation rugby league competition between the national teams of the USA, Canada and Jamaica. The United States would defend its title with a clean sweep of the tournament just like in 2016.

The United States men's national rugby union team, nicknamed the Eagles, represents the United States of America Rugby Football Union in men's international rugby union. USA Rugby is the national governing body for the sport of rugby union in the United States, and is a member of Rugby Americas North, one of six regional governing bodies under World Rugby. The stadium was named for long-time Toronto politician Allan Lamport, who was associated with sporting activities in the city.
