The 2016 Americas Rugby League Championship was the first tri-nation rugby league competition between the national teams of the USA, Canada and Jamaica. [1]

Rugby union Team sport, code of rugby football

Rugby union, commonly known simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that originated in England in the first half of the 19th century. One of the two codes of rugby football, it is based on running with the ball in hand. In its most common form, a game is played between two teams of 15 players each, using an oval-shaped ball on a rectangular field called a pitch. The field has H-shaped goalposts at both ends.

National Rugby League Australasian rugby league football competition

The National Rugby League (NRL) is Australia's top-level domestic men's rugby league club competition. It contains clubs from the original Sydney club Rugby League competition, which had been running continuously since 1908. A single team from New Zealand also plays in the league. The NRL formed in the aftermath of the 1990s' Super League war as a joint partnership between the Australian governing body, the Australian Rugby League (ARL) and media giant News Corporation-controlled Super League, after both organisations ran premierships parallel to each other in 1997. This partnership was dissolved in February 2012, with control of the NRL going to the independently formed Australian Rugby League Commission.

Premiership Rugby is an English professional rugby union competition. The Premiership consists of thirteen clubs, and is the top division of the English rugby union system. Premiership clubs qualify for Europe's two main club competitions, the European Rugby Champions Cup and the European Rugby Challenge Cup. The winner of the second division, the RFU Championship is promoted to the Premiership and until 2020, the team finishing at the bottom of the Premiership each season was relegated to the Championship.

United Rugby Championship

The United Rugby Championship is an annual rugby union competition involving professional teams from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa and Wales. The league is one of the three major professional leagues in Europe, the most successful teams from which go forward to compete in the European Rugby Champions Cup. The current name was adopted in 2021 when the league expanded to include four South African teams.

United States national rugby league team

The United States national rugby league team represents the United States in international rugby league football competitions. The team is managed by the USA Rugby League (USARL).

College rugby

College rugby, more specifically rugby union, is played throughout universities in the United States of America. Men's college rugby is governed by USA Rugby, and does not fall under the auspices of the NCAA with the exception of 21 NCAA women's programs. Women's Rugby has been classified as an NCAA Emerging Sport since 2002.

Over 2,500 rugby union clubs exist around the country, including those of whom are part of college rugby. Professional club competition exists as Major League Rugby since 2017.

Chicago Stockyarders US semi-professional rugby league club, based in Chicago, Illinois

The Chicago Stockyarders are a semi-professional rugby league football team based in Chicago, Illinois. The team was established in 2010, and played two exhibition rugby league sevens games while preparing for a fuller exhibition schedule for the 2011 AMNRL season. They originally planned to join the American National Rugby League (AMNRL), however the league has since folded and plans are currently being made to join the current first grade U.S. competition, the USA Rugby League.

The Argentina national rugby league team represent Argentina in the sport of rugby league football.

The Rhode Island Rebellion were an American semi-professional rugby league football team based in Providence, Rhode Island. The Rebellion compete in the USA Rugby League (USARL), which they joined as a charter franchise in the 2011 season.

2021 Rugby League World Cup

The 2021 Rugby League World Cup will be the sixteenth staging of the Rugby League World Cup and will be held in England from 15 October 2022 to 19 November 2022. It was originally going to be held between 23 October 2021 and 27 November 2021, however the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent withdrawals of Australia and New Zealand caused the tournament to be postponed. The tournament will be competed for by 16 teams, an increase of two from the last two tournaments.

Ohio Aviators (rugby union)

The Ohio Aviators are an American rugby union team that played professionally in the short lived PRO Rugby competition. They are based in the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area, and played their home games at Memorial Park in Obetz, Ohio. They are now playing in the newly formed World Tens Series.

Toronto Wolfpack Canadian rugby league team

Toronto Wolfpack are a professional rugby league club based in Toronto, Ontario, who compete in the North American Rugby League. They originally competed in the British rugby league system's top-tier, the Super League. The club withdrew from the 2020 Super League season and Challenge Cup due to "overwhelming financial challenges" caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and was voted to be replaced by the Super League on November 3, 2020.

The Americas Rugby League Championship is an international rugby league football tournament contested by Canada, Chile, Jamaica, and the USA. The tournament was created to follow the success of the Americas region of the 2017 Rugby League World Cup qualifying.

Major League Rugby Rugby Union league in the United States and Canada

Major League Rugby is a professional rugby union competition and the top-level championship for clubs in North America. In the 2021 season it was contested by twelve teams: eleven from the United States and one from Canada. Officially sanctioned by USA Rugby, which is a member union of Rugby Americas North (RAN), and consequently part of World Rugby, the league was founded in 2017, and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.

Hanco Jacobus Germishuys is a South African born American rugby union player who plays as a flanker for Rugby United New York (RUNY) of Major League Rugby (MLR) and for the United States internationally.

Dylan Fawsitt is an Irish-born American rugby union player who plays as a hooker for Rugby United New York (RUNY) in Major League Rugby and also for the United States men's national team. His nickname is "The Butcher".
