The 2018 MTV EMAs (also known as the MTV Europe Music Awards) was held at the Bizkaia Arena (Bilbao Exhibition Centre) in Barakaldo, part of Greater Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain, on 4 November 2018. [1] The ceremony's host was Hailee Steinfeld. [2] This was the third time that Spain hosted the ceremony.
Camila Cabello was nominated for 6 awards, followed by Ariana Grande and Post Malone, who were each nominated for five. [3] Cabello won four awards, becoming the most awarded artist of the night. [4]
In association with the EMAs, an event called MTV Music Week was organised, which run from 29 October to 3 November at different locations throughout the province of Biscay. [5] The main concert, part of the MTV World Stage series, was held at San Mamés Stadium on 3 November, headlined by Muse and Crystal Fighters. [6]

The MTV Europe Music Awards are awards presented by Paramount International Networks to honour artists and music in pop culture. It was originally conceived as an alternative to the MTV Video Music Awards, which are hosted annually in the United States. The Europe Music Awards are held every year in a different country; it has been hosted mostly in the United Kingdom. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and the presentation of those awards that have a more popular interest.
The MTV Europe Music Award for Best Group is one of the original general awards that has been handed out every year since the first annual MTV Europe Music Awards in 1994. Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Linkin Park and most recently, BTS have all won the award twice.
The MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act is one of the four original general categories that have been given out since the first annual MTV Europe Music Awards in 1994. Originally called Breakthrough Artist (1994—1999), it was briefly retitled to Future Sounds in 2006 and the winner was chosen by their peers. In 2007 the category featured only European artists chosen by viewers in each region of Europe, every day the artist with the fewest votes was eliminated and the winner would play live at the EMAs. In 2008 the award was once again retitled, this time to its current name. The current holder by this award is Seventeen.

"Havana" is a song recorded by Cuban-American singer Camila Cabello featuring fellow American rapper Young Thug. It was released on August 3, 2017, along with "OMG", from her solo debut album, Camila (2018). It was initially released as a promotional single, then was serviced to radio on September 8, 2017, as a single. Due to its rising success, "Havana" later became the official lead single of Camila, replacing "Crying in the Club". In November 2017, a remix version of the song with Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee was uploaded to Cabello's YouTube page. The first verse of the remix is sung in Spanish while Daddy Yankee replaces Young Thug's verse.
"Woke Up Late" is a song by New Zealand band Drax Project, originally released in November 2017. It reached number 15 on the New Zealand Singles Chart and was included on their 2018 EP Noon.
