The MTV Europe Music Awards are awards presented by Paramount International Networks to honour artists and music in pop culture. It was originally conceived as an alternative to the MTV Video Music Awards, which are hosted annually in the United States. The Europe Music Awards are held every year in a different country; it has been hosted mostly in the United Kingdom. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists, and the presentation of those awards that have a more popular interest.
The 2008 MTV EMAs were held at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England, on 6 November 2008. It was hosted by Katy Perry. This was the second time the awards have taken place in England.
The MTV Europe Music Awards 2009 took place in Berlin, Germany at the O2 World and Brandenburg Gate on 5 November 2009. The awards ceremony was presented by Katy Perry for a 2nd consecutive year. It was the fourth time that the MTV Europe Music Awards were hosted in Germany and the second time that they were hosted in Berlin, since the inaugural edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards also took place there. Thus Berlin became the first city to host the event twice.
The MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act is one of the four original general categories that have been given out since the first annual MTV Europe Music Awards in 1994. Originally called Breakthrough Artist (1994—1999), it was briefly retitled to Future Sounds in 2006 and the winner was chosen by their peers. In 2007 the category featured only European artists chosen by viewers in each region of Europe, every day the artist with the fewest votes was eliminated and the winner would play live at the EMAs. In 2008 the award was once again retitled, this time to its current name. The current holder by this award is Seventeen.

The following is a list of the MTV Europe Music Award winners and nominees for Best Italian Act.
Neverstore is a Swedish punk rock band. The band was formed in 2000 in Skövde. Neverstore released their first album, Sevenhundred Sundays January 24, 2007. The songs So Much of Not Enough and L.Y.D. were included on the album. Shortly after they released a new single, "Stay Forever". Neverstore have several times opened up for Backyard Babies and in May, 2007 they opened up for Good Charlotte while on tour in Sweden. During 2008 Neverstore were on tour in Japan with the Canadian rock band Sum 41. This tour gave Neverstore a large audience in Japan. Neverstore's second studio album was released on February 27, 2008. This album is called Heroes Wanted. The band has recently been in Los Angeles, for recording of the new single Summer which is produced by Deryck Whibley from Sum 41. In the end of January 2010 the third album, Age of Hysteria was released. It contains the singles "Summer" and "Shallow Beautiful People". Neverstore is now busy making new songs for their new album. They expect it to be finished after summer holidays.

The 2016 MTV EMAs were held at the Rotterdam Ahoy, in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on 6 November 2016. It was hosted by Bebe Rexha. This was the third time the awards have taken place in the Netherlands, and the second time Rotterdam has been the host city. The awards were held in the same venue as the 1997 MTV EMAs.
The 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards were held on 8 November 2020 at the Breakfast Television Centre in London. The ceremony was hosted by Little Mix, making them the first group ever to host; however, only three members -- Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, appeared; Jesy Nelson did not participate due to health reasons. In similar fashion to its American counterpart held earlier in August, the performances were filmed at various locations across Europe and the world due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The two-hour long show was broadcast in 180 countries.
The MTV Europe Music Award for Best Latin has been awarded since 2020. During the 2010s, the award show implemented the first Latin categories since the ceremony of 2013, including regional categories and the Best Latin American Act being the predecessor of Best Latin.
