Coached by Anthony Griffin (from round 1 to round 21) and Cameron Ciraldo (from round 22 onwards) on caretaker basis and captained by Peter Wallace and James Maloney, the Panthers competed in the National Rugby League's 2018 Telstra Premiership.

In addition to competing in the National Rugby League, the Panthers are also fielding semi-professional teams in the 2018 Jersey Flegg Cup (for players aged under 20) and the New South Wales Rugby League's 2018 Intrust Super Premiership (NSW Cup). The JF team is coached by Ben Harden, and the NSW Cup team is coached by Guy Missio.

Cameron Ciraldo is a professional rugby league football coach who is the head coach of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the National Rugby League (NRL), and a former professional rugby league footballer. He is known as the defensive coach behind the Penrith Panthers back-to-back premierships in 2021 and 2022. He was previously the head coach of the Italy national team and an assistant coach of the Penrith Panthers in the NRL. During his playing career, Ciraldo played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, Newcastle Knights and the Penrith Panthers, all in the NRL, and was selected to represent Italy. He primarily played as a second-row or lock.
James Maloney is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer and current assistant coach for the North Queensland Cowboys.
Will Smith is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who plays as a five-eighth, fullback and hooker for Wests Tigers in the National Rugby League (NRL).

Coached by Ivan Cleary and co-captained by Kevin Kingston and Peter Wallace, the team competed in the National Rugby League's 2014 Telstra Premiership. The Panthers competed in the pre-season's 2014 NRL Auckland Nines. They then completed the 26-round regular season 4th place, reaching the finals for the first time since 2010. Penrith went on to come within one match of the grand final but were knocked out by the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

Nathan Cleary is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who plays as a halfback for the Penrith Panthers in the Australian NRL and Australia at international level. He won the Clive Churchill Medal in 2021 and 2023 as well as Dally M Halfback of the year in 2020 and 2021. As co-captain, Cleary also led the Penrith Panthers to three consecutive premiership wins from 2021 to 2023. Being the captain in all 4 of his grand final appearances, he is considered one of the best halfbacks of all time.
