The 35th European Athletics Indoor Championships was held between 1 and 3 March 2019 at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. This was the second time this event was held in the city after the 1990 edition and the third time it was held in the United Kingdom, following the 2007 Edition in Birmingham, England. The three-day competition featured 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events and took place over three morning and three afternoon sessions.

High jump track and field event

The high jump is a track and field event in which competitors must jump unaided over a horizontal bar placed at measured heights without dislodging it. In its modern most practiced format, a bar is placed between two standards with a crash mat for landing. In the modern era, athletes run towards the bar and use the Fosbury Flop method of jumping, leaping head first with their back to the bar. Since ancient times, competitors have introduced increasingly effective techniques to arrive at the current form.

The European Athletics U20 Championships are the European championships for athletes who are 19 years of age or under, which is the age range recognised by the IAAF as junior athletes. The event is currently organized by the European Athletic Association.

The 3000 metres steeplechase or 3000-meter steeplechase is the most common distance for the steeplechase in track and field. It is an obstacle race over the distance of the 3000 metres, which derives its name from the horse racing steeplechase.

The European Team Championships, also referred to as the European Athletics Team Championships is an international athletics competition organised by European Athletics, between different countries of Europe, over 4 leagues. It replaced the similar European Cup. Unlike most international competitions, medals are not awarded to individuals in individual events but to the overall winning team on a points system.

The women's pentathlon event at the 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held on March 3, 2017.

The men's heptathlon event at the 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held on March 4-5, 2017.

The men's heptathlon event at the 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held on 2 and 3 March.
