The medal table of the 2020 Summer Paralympics ranks the participating National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) by the number of gold medals that are won by their athletes during the competition. The 2020 Paralympics were the sixteenth Games to be held, a quadrennial competition open to athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities. The games were held in Tokyo, Japan from 24 August to 5 September 2021. There were 539 medal events.
Athletes from Costa Rica, [1] Ecuador, [2] El Salvador, [3] [4] Montenegro, [5] and Oman [6] won their first Paralympic medals. El Salvador and Oman had never won an Olympic medal. Costa Rica, Ecuador, [7] Ethiopia, [8] Pakistan, [9] and Sri Lanka [10] won their first Paralympic gold medals.
Judo, table tennis and taekwondo award two bronze medals per discipline - the table tennis to losing semi-finalists,a first since the 1996 Summer Paralympics and the two combat sports by a repechage system whereby defeated athletes up to the semi-final stage rejoin competition for a bronze medal.
Two silver medals were awarded for a second-place tie in the men's high jump T47 athletics event. No bronze medal was awarded as a result.
Two bronze medals were awarded for a third-place tie in the men's 100 metres T64 athletics event.
Two bronze medals were awarded for a third-place tie in the women's 100 metre freestyle S7 swimming event.
Due to the disqualification of two participants, a bronze medal was not awarded in the women's 100 metres T11 athletics event.

Marcin Polak was provisionally suspended from the men's individual pursuit B pending an adjudication following a positive test for a banned substance. [17]
The 1964 Summer Paralympics, originally known as the 13th International Stoke Mandeville Games and also known as Paralympic Tokyo 1964, were the second Paralympic Games to be held. They were held in Tokyo, Japan, and were the last Summer Paralympics to take place in the same city as the Summer Olympics until the 1988 Summer Paralympics.
The 1992 Summer Paralympics were the ninth Paralympic Games to be held. They were held in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. In addition, the 1992 Paralympic Games for Persons with mental handicap were held immediately after the regular Paralympics in the Spanish capital, Madrid.
The 2004 Summer Paralympics, the 12th Summer Paralympic Games, were a major international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities governed by the International Paralympic Committee, held in Athens, Greece from 17 to 28 September 2004. 3,808 athletes from 136 countries participated. During these games 304 World Records were broken with 448 Paralympic Games Records being broken across 19 different sports. 8,863 volunteers worked along the Organizing Committee.
Athletics at the 1992 Summer Paralympics consisted of 239 events, 152 for men and 62 for women. Because of a tie in the first position of the men's 100m in class B1 and another tie also happened in the third place of the high jump event in the b2 class for men. 240 gold medals, 238 silver and 240 bronze were awarded.
Australia has participated officially in every Paralympic Games since its inauguration in 1960 except for the 1976 Winter Paralympics.
Brazil made its Paralympic Games debut at the 1972 Summer Paralympics in Heidelberg, sending representatives to compete in track and field, archery, swimming and wheelchair basketball. The country has competed in every edition of the Summer Paralympics since.
Ecuador made its Paralympic Games début at the 1976 Summer Paralympics in Toronto, with a small delegation of three competitors in track and field and swimming. The country has participated in every subsequent edition of the Summer Paralympics, except 1980 and 1988, but has never entered the Winter Paralympics. Ecuador's delegations have always been small.
Herath Mudiyansalage Dinesh Priyantha, also simply known as Dinesh Priyantha, is a Sri Lankan Paralympic track and field athlete who competes in javelin T46 events. He also served as an important member for the Sri Lanka Army during the Sri Lankan Civil War. He was disabled after being shot at his left arm during the final stages of the war. He is the defending Paralympic champion in men's javelin throw F46 category. On 30 August 2021, he became the first ever Sri Lankan to win a gold medal at the Paralympics when he won the men's javelin throw F46 category. He is the current Paralympic and World record holder in men's javelin throw for F46 category.
Australia participated at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, from 24 August to 5 September 2021. It sent its largest away team - 179 athletes to a Summer Paralympics. Australia finished eighth on the gold medal table and sixth on the total medals table.

Originally scheduled to take place between 21 August and 6 September 2020, the Games were postponed to 24 August to 5 September 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. British athletes have competed at all sixteen consecutive Summer Paralympics since 1960.
China competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan from 24 August to 5 September 2021. This was their tenth consecutive appearance at the Summer Paralympics since 1984. China sent 251 athletes to the Games and competed in 20 of the 22 sports except Equestrian and Wheelchair rugby.

Poleth Isamar Méndes Sánchez also simply known as Poleth Mendes is an Ecuadorian Paralympic athlete. She along with her younger sister Anaís Méndez claimed the first medals for Ecuador in the history of the Paralympics. Both have the unique distinction of being the only siblings combination to be the first two Paralympic medalists for a country.
