[6] Billy Tsikrikas was initially named in the squad but withdrew. He was replaced by Siteni Taukamo. Flocas, Gal, Ilias and Taukamo are the only uncapped players in the squad. Grigoris Koutsimpogiorgos was ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to concussion. Adam Vrahnos was added to the squad as his replacement. [7]

Samoa announced their 24-man squad on 27 September 2022. [8] Luciano Leilua was initially included in the squad but was withdrawn after he was charged with two criminal offences. [9] Ligi Sao was announced as his replacement on 8 October. [10] Braden Hamlin-Uele, Tyrone May and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow were ruled out for the remainder of the tournament due to injury. Ken Sio and Tim Lafai were added to the squad as their replacements. [11]

Australia announced their 24-man squad on 3 October 2022. [12] Debut call-ups were handed to Matt Burton, Patrick Carrigan, Nathan Cleary, Lindsay Collins, Reuben Cotter, Angus Crichton, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, Campbell Graham, Harry Grant, Liam Martin, Jeremiah Nanai, Murray Taulagi and Isaah Yeo. Nicho Hynes, Dylan Edwards and Damien Cook were named as standby players.
The players' jersey numbers were announced on 6 October. [13] The decision to number players in order of their Kangaroos debut (except captain James Tedesco, who was allocated #1), rather than the conventional positional numbering, was met with widespread backlash and derision. [14] [15]

Head coach Joe Rabele was replaced by Wise Kativerata after being hospitalised due to illness. The Papua New Guinea national rugby league team represents Papua New Guinea in the sport of rugby league football.
The Tonga national rugby league team represents Tonga in rugby league football. They are currently the fifth ranked team in the world. The team was formed to compete in the 1986 Pacific Cup, and have competed at six Rugby League World Cups, starting in 1995 and continuing consecutively until the most recent tournament. Their best result was at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, where they were semi-finalists.
The Fiji national rugby league team, nicknamed the Bati, has been participating in international rugby league football since 1992. The team is controlled by the governing body for rugby league in Fiji, Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL), which is currently a member of the Asia-Pacific Rugby League Confederation (APRLC). Fiji have thrice reached the semi-finals of the Rugby League World Cup, in 2008, 2013 and 2017, and are currently ranked 6th in the International Rugby League's World Rankings. They are coached by Fijian Wise Kativerata, and their captain is Kevin Naiqama.
Brent Kite is a former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. A Tonga and Australia international, and New South Wales State of Origin representative front-row forward, he played club football for the St. George Illawarra Dragons, Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and Penrith Panthers. Kite was named the Clive Churchill Medallist for his performance in the 2008 NRL Grand Final, in which he helped steer Manly-Warringah to a 40–0 thumping of the Melbourne Storm, scoring a try.
