This was the first edition of the tournament, which was primarily organized to compensate for the cancellation of Asian tournaments in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [1]
Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski won the title, defeating John Peers and Filip Polášek in the final, 7–6(7–2), 3–6, [10–5].

Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares were the defending champions, but they chose not to participate together this year. Murray played alongside Neal Skupski, but lost in the semifinals to Ivan Dodig and Filip Polášek. Soares played alongside Mate Pavić, but lost in the semifinals to Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah.
Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah won their second consecutive Grand Slam men's doubles title, defeating Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in the final, 6–4, 7–5 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2019 US Open. Cabal and Farah retained the ATP no. 1 doubles ranking. Mike Bryan, Łukasz Kubot and Nicolas Mahut were also in contention for the top ranking at the start of the tournament.
Marcel Granollers and Rajeev Ram were the defending champions, but chose to compete with different partners. Granollers played alongside Horacio Zeballos, but lost in the second round to Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski. Ram teamed up with Joe Salisbury, but lost in the quarterfinals to Ivan Dodig and Filip Polášek.
Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury defeated Max Purcell and Luke Saville in the final, 6–4, 6–2 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2020 Australian Open. Purcell and Saville had entered the tournament through a wildcard.
Ivan Dodig and Filip Polášek were the defending champions but lost in the first round to Pablo Carreño Busta and Alex de Minaur.
Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies were the defending champions and successfully defended their title, defeating Mate Pavić and Bruno Soares in the final, 6–3, 7–5.
Ivan Dodig and Filip Polášek defeated the defending champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury in the final, 6–3, 6–4 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2021 Australian Open. With the win, Dodig and Polášek claimed their first Grand Slam title as a team. The victory earned Polášek his first major title, and made him the second Slovak to win one after Daniela Hantuchová.
Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić defeated Dan Evans and Neal Skupski in the final, 6–4, 6–4, to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2021 Miami Open. The second-seeded duo did not drop a set en route to the title and became the first all-Croatian team to win the Miami Open. Pavić also usurped Robert Farah for the ATP No. 1 doubles ranking by winning the title after Farah lost in the second round.
Defending champion Nikola Mektić and his partner, Mate Pavić, defeated Dan Evans and Neal Skupski in the final, 6–3, 4–6, [10–7], to win the doubles tennis title at the 2021 Monte-Carlo Masters. It was the all-Croatian duo's second consecutive ATP Tour Masters 1000 title together and their fifth title overall of the year. The win also earned Mektić his first successful career title defense. The match was the second successive encounter between both teams in consecutive Masters 1000 finals.

John Peers and Filip Polášek defeated Aslan Karatsev and Andrey Rublev in the final, 6–3, 7–6(7–5) to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2021 Indian Wells Masters.
Thanasi Kokkinakis and Nick Kyrgios defeated Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the men's doubles tennis title in an all-Australian final at the 2022 Australian Open. They became the first all-Australian pair to win the title since Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde in 1997, and the first wildcard champions in the Open Era. It marked the first all-Australian final since 1980.
Tim Pütz and Michael Venus defeated Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić in the final, 6–3, 6–7(5–7), [16–14] to win the doubles tennis title at the 2022 Dubai Tennis Championships. The pair saved three championship points en route to the win.
John Isner and Jack Sock defeated Santiago González and Édouard Roger-Vasselin in the final, 7–6(7–4), 6–3, to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters. The victory earned Isner his second doubles title at Indian Wells, Sock his third, and the pair's second together overall at the tournament.
Hubert Hurkacz and John Isner defeated Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski in the final, 7–6(7–5), 6–4 to win the men's doubles title at the 2022 Miami Open. Isner completed the Sunshine Double, having won the title at Indian Wells alongside Jack Sock. He became the first player to achieve the Sunshine Double in men's doubles since Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in 2016.
Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski defeated Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah in the final, 6–7(4–7), 6–4, [10–5] to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2022 Madrid Open. It was their first ATP Masters 1000 title.
Defending champions Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić defeated John Isner and Diego Schwartzman in the final, 6–2, 6–7(6–8), [12–10] to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2022 Italian Open. The pair saved a championship point en route to their tenth career title as a team.
Ena Shibahara and Wesley Koolhof defeated Ulrikke Eikeri and Joran Vliegen in the final, 7–6(7–5), 6–2 to win the mixed doubles tennis title at the 2022 French Open.
Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell defeated the defending champions Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić in the final, 7–6(7–5), 6–7(3–7), 4–6, 6–4, 7–6(10–2) to win the gentlemen's doubles tennis title at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. It was their first major title as a team, and their second title of the season. They saved a total of eight match points en route to the title, and twice recovered from two sets down, having been taken to five sets in five of the six matches they played.
