The men's artistic individual all-around at the 2022 All-Japan Artistic Gymnastics Championships was held on 22 and 24 April 2021 at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Shibuya, Tokyo. [1] 83 gymnasts from 31 clubs participated in the event. [2] Daiki Hashimoto successfully defended his title, while Yuya Kamoto & Ryosuke Doi achieved 2nd & 3rd position respectively. [3]
This was the 76th appearance of the men's individual all-around, as it has been held every year since 1947, with Shibuya, Tokyo returned as the host after 2 years in Takasaki. All medalists from 2019, Daiki Hashimoto, Wataru Tanigawa, Kazuma Kaya, Takeru Kitazono, Kakeru Tanigawa & Kazuyuki Takeda, all participated in and qualified for the final round.
The top 30 qualifiers in the preliminary round advanced to the final. All gymnasts performed an additional exercise on each apparatus. Scoring applied to the 2022-24 Code of Points, and the final results were counted with scores from both rounds.

Kōhei Uchimura is a retired Japanese artistic gymnast. He is a seven-time Olympic medalist, winning three golds and four silvers, and a twenty-one-time World medalist.
The 2011 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships were held in Tokyo, Japan, from October 7–16, 2011, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Due to uncertainty over the nuclear situation following the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami, the International Federation of Gymnastics revealed it was considering moving the event, but on May 22 FIG president Bruno Grandi announced that the World Championships would take place in Tokyo as planned.
Nikita Vladimirovich Nagornyy is a Russian artistic gymnast and two-time Olympian, representing Russia in 2016 and ROC in 2020. He was part of the teams who won gold at the 2020 Olympic Games and 2019 World Championships and silver at the 2016 Olympic Games and 2018 World Championships.

The men's vault event at the 2020 Summer Olympics was held on 24 July and 2 August 2021 at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre. Unlike the other apparatus events, vault requires gymnasts to perform two exercises in order for results to count towards the vault final; most of the gymnasts perform only one or none. Approximately 20 gymnasts from 15 nations competed two vaults in the qualifying round.

Takeru Kitazono is a Japanese male artistic gymnast. At the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he won five gold medals in the all-around, floor, rings, parallel bars, and horizontal bar competitions. He was the first artistic gymnast ever to achieve such a feat in a single Youth Olympic Games.
Tin Srbić is a Croatian artistic gymnast. He is the 2017 World champion on the horizontal bar and the first Croatian to win a gold medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He is also the 2020 Olympic, 2019 World, and two-time European silver medalist on the horizontal bar. He is the second Croatian gymnast to win an Olympic medal, after Filip Ude. He has won nine gold medals on the FIG World Cup series. He was named the Croatian Sportsman of the Year in 2017, 2019, and 2021.

Wataru Tanigawa is a Japanese artistic gymnast. He is a two-time bronze medalist at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships and a two-time gold medalist at the Summer Universiade.
Daiki Hashimoto is a Japanese artistic gymnast. Widely regarded as the successor of Kohei Uchimura, he won two gold medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in all-around and horizontal bar, as well as a silver in team. At the World Championships, he also achieved 2 silvers and a bronze.
John Brody Malone is an American artistic gymnast who represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He is the 2021 World Championships bronze medalist on Horizontal Bar and is the 2021 U.S. National Champion. He is a member of the United States men's national gymnastics team. He is also a ten-time NCAA National Champion.
Zhang Boheng is a Chinese artistic gymnast. He competed at the 2021 Chinese Artistic Gymnastics Championships and won the all-around at the 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
The Japan men's national artistic gymnastics team is a sport group governed by Japan Gymnastics Association and represents Japan in international gymnastics competitions and multi-sports events. Followed the establishment of All Japan Gymnastics Federation in 1930, the team first appeared at the 1932 Summer Olympics and gradually became the major force till this day. For nearly two decades, from 1960 to 1978, Japanese men was dominant and won every gold medal at the Olympics and World Championships.
The 75th All-Japan Artistic Gymnastics Championships was held on 3 different occasions. The individual all-around took place from 15-18 April, followed by the apparatus finals on 5-6 June, and finally the team all-around from 11-12 December.
Teppei Miwa is a Japanese artistic gymnast. Born in Shizuoka, Japan, he started gymnastics at the age of 4, and has gradually become one of the top & most promising competitors in Japan. Miwa's all-around score of 86.598 at the 2021 All Japan qualification made him the 11th highest scorers of the year.
The 76th All-Japan Artistic Gymnastics Championships will be held in three separate events. The individual all-around took place from 21-24 April, which is to be followed by the apparatus finals on 18-19 June, and the team all-around has not yet been scheduled.
