The 2022 Campeonato Pernambucano (officially the Pernambucano Betsson 2022 for sponsorship reasons) [1] was the 108th edition of the state championship of Pernambuco organized by FPF. The championship began on 22 January and ended on 30 April 2022.

Contents

In the first stage, Sete de Setembro had three points deducted for fielding the ineligible player Bililiu in the match Sete de Setembro v Náutico played on 1 February 2022 (2nd round). [2]

The finals were contested in two-legged home-and-away format between the defending champions Náutico and Retrô. Tied 1–1 on aggregate, Náutico won 4–2 on penalties, winning the tournament for the 24th time. [3] As champions, Náutico qualified for 2023 Copa do Brasil and 2023 Copa do Nordeste. The runners-up, Retrô qualified for 2023 Copa do Brasil and 2023 Copa do Nordeste qualification, while Santa Cruz, the best placed team in the first stage not already qualified, gained the third berth for 2023 Copa do Brasil.

First stage

In the first stage, each team played the other nine teams in a single round-robin tournament. The teams were ranked according to points (3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss). If tied on points, the following criteria would be used to determine the ranking: 1. Wins; 2. Goal difference; 3. Goals scored; 4. Fewest red cards; 5. Fewest yellow cards; 6. Draw in the headquarters of the FPF. [7]

Top two teams advanced to the semi-finals of the final stages, while teams from third to sixth places advanced to the quarter-finals. The four teams with the lowest number of points played a relegation stage. [8]

The best team not qualified for the finals qualified for 2023 Copa do Brasil. Top two teams not already qualified for 2023 Série A, Série B or Série C qualified for 2023 Série D.

Relegation stage

Originally the two teams with the lowest number of points would be relegated to the 2023 Série A2 but the FPF allowed the relegated teams to participate in the 2022 Série A2. [9]

The 2020 Copa do Nordeste was the 17th edition of the main football tournament featuring teams from the Brazilian Northeast Region. The competition featured 16 clubs, with Bahia, Ceará and Pernambuco having two seeds each, and Rio Grande do Norte, Sergipe, Alagoas, Paraíba, Maranhão and Piauí with one seed each. Four teams were decided by a qualifying tournament. The tournament began on 21 January and ended on 4 August.

The 2020 Campeonato Pernambucano da Série A1 was the 106th edition of the state championship of Pernambuco organized by FPF. The championship began on 18 January and ended on 5 August.

The 2021 Campeonato Pernambucano da Série A1 was the 107th edition of the state championship of Pernambuco organized by FPF. The championship began on 24 February and ended on 23 May. Salgueiro were the defending champions but they were eliminated in the semi-finals.

The 2022 Campeonato Paraibano de Futebol was the 112th edition of Paraíba's top professional football league. The competition was scheduled to start on 3 February 2022, although dates beyond the first phase were not initially fixed due to potential clashes with 2022 Copa do Nordeste and 2022 Copa do Brasil.

The 2022 Campeonato Cearense was the 108th edition of Ceará's top professional football league organized by FCF. The competition began on 8 January and ended on 23 April 2022.

The 2022 Campeonato Alagoano was the 92nd edition of the top football league in Alagoas organized by FAF. It began on 20 January and ended on 13 April 2022. CSA were the defending champions but were eliminated in the semi-finals.

The Campeonato Pernambucano Série A2 is the second level of football tournaments for the Pernambucano state clubs that don't play in the Campeonato Pernambucano First Division. The competitions are organized by the Pernambucan Football Federation. Usually, the champions of a division are promoted in the next year to the immediately upper level.

The 2023 Campeonato Paulista de Futebol Profissional da Primeira Divisão - Série A1 will be the 122nd season of São Paulo's top professional football league. The competition will be played from 15 January to 9 April 2023.

The 2023 season will be Sport Recife's 119th season in the club's history. Sport will be compete in the Campeonato Pernambucano, Copa do Nordeste, Série B and Copa do Brasil.
