The 2022 Charleston Open (branded as the 2022 Credit One Charleston Open for sponsorship reasons) was a women's professional tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina. It was the 50th edition of the tournament on the WTA Tour and was classified as a WTA 500 tournament on the 2022 WTA Tour. It was the only event of the clay court season played on green clay. [1]

This was the third edition of the tournament for the women and the second edition for the men. The tournament took place at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre from 3–9 January 2022 and was followed a week later by the 2022 Adelaide International 2, a combined ATP Tour 250 and WTA 250 tournament, at the same venue.

Mladenovic extended her winning streak at the event to 18 consecutive match wins and three titles, having last lost in the quarterfinals of the 2018 tournament.

Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková defeated Caty McNally and Taylor Townsend in the final, 3–6, 7–5, 6–1 to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2022 US Open. With the win, they became the first women's pair to complete the career Super Slam in doubles. It was their sixth major title together.
In 2022, the WTA calendar was still being affected by the cancellation of women's professional tennis tournaments in China and Russia due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and concerns about the security and well-being of tennis player Peng Shuai after her allegations of sexual assault against Chinese Communist Party leader Zhang Gaoli. As a result, a WTA 1000 tournament was announced to be held in Guadalajara to compensate for it. This was one of the biggest women's tournaments ever hosted by Mexico, held on outdoor hard courts in October 2022.
