Iga Świątek defeated Naomi Osaka in the final, 6–4, 6–0 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Miami Open. She became the fourth woman in history to complete the Sunshine Double in singles, having won Indian Wells two weeks earlier. It was Świątek's first Miami Open title, her third consecutive WTA 1000 title, and her fourth WTA 1000-level title overall. Świątek became the first woman in history to win the first three WTA 1000 titles of the year in succession, the first player since Serena Williams in 2013 to win three consecutive WTA 1000 titles, and extended her winning streak to 17 matches. She lost no sets and just 26 games en route to the title, the fewest since Martina Hingis dropped 21 games in 2000; she was the first player to win the title in Miami without dropping a set since Azarenka in 2016. Additionally, Świątek won Miami exactly 10 years after fellow Polish tennis player Agnieszka Radwańska won the tournament in 2012.

It was the 31st edition of the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships and was classified as an ATP 250 event on the men's 2022 ATP Tour and a WTA 250 event on the women's 2022 WTA Tour. The tournament was previously held in 2019 after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the double postponement of the event.

The tournament is categorized as an ATP 500 event on the 2023 ATP Tour, and as a WTA 1000 event on the 2023 WTA Tour. Both the men's and the women's tournaments were held at the National Tennis Center in Beijing from 28 September to 4 October for the men, and from 30 September to 8 October for the women. This was the first edition of the China Open since 2019, with the intervening editions cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ranked as the world No. 49, Muchová was the lowest ranked woman to reach the final since the tournament's inception in 2004.

Zheng Qinwen defeated Sofia Kenin in the final, 7–6(7–5), 6–3 to win the singles title at the 2024 Toray Pan Pacific Open. It was her fifth WTA Tour singles title and second WTA 500 title.
Two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka defeated Zheng Qinwen in the final, 6–3, 5–7, 6–3 to win the singles tennis title at the 2024 Wuhan Open. Sabalenka became the first player to win three consecutive titles at the Wuhan Open, and extended her unbeaten win streak at the tournament to 17 matches dating back to her tournament debut in 2018. The final was a rematch of the 2024 Australian Open final, which Sabalenka also won. One week later, on 21 October 2024, Sabalenka reclaimed the WTA No. 1 singles ranking from Iga Świątek, who withdrew from the Asian Swing tournaments.
