The 2022 Emilia-Romagna Open was a professional tennis tournament played on clay courts in Parma, Italy as an ATP Challenger Tour 125 event for the men and a WTA 250 event for the women. The fourth edition of the men's event was held between 13 and 19 June on the 2022 ATP Challenger Tour, while the second edition of the women's took place from 26 September to 1 October on the 2022 WTA Tour.

The women's event was one of the six tournaments that were given single-year WTA 250 licenses in September and October 2022 due to the cancellation of tournaments in China during the 2022 season because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the suspension of tournaments in China following former WTA player Peng Shuai's allegation of sexual assault against a Chinese government official. In 2022, the WTA calendar was still being affected by the cancellation of women's professional tennis tournaments in China and Russia due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and concerns about the security and well-being of tennis player Peng Shuai after her allegations of sexual assault against Chinese Communist Party leader Zhang Gaoli. As a result, a WTA 1000 tournament was announced to be held in Guadalajara to compensate for it. This was one of the biggest women's tournaments ever hosted by Mexico, held on outdoor hard courts in October 2022.

The 2022 Slovak Open was a professional tennis tournament played on hard courts. It was the 24th edition of the tournament which was part of the 2022 ATP Challenger Tour and the ninth edition of the tournament which was part of the 2022 ITF Women's World Tennis Tour. It took place in Bratislava, Slovakia between 7 and 20 November 2022.

The 2023 Upper Austria Ladies Linz was a professional women's tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts. It was the 32nd edition of the tournament, and part of the WTA 250 series of the 2023 WTA Tour. It was held at the Design Center Linz in Linz, Austria, from 6 to 12 February 2023. Due to scheduling issues, the October 2022 edition was delayed to February 2023 in order to attract top WTA players to compete in the tournament.
