The 2022 season was the Manchester Originals second season of the 100 ball franchise cricket, The Hundred. The men's team became the second in the competition to score over 200 runs in a single match, scoring 208 runs against the Northern Superchargers, the same fixture in which the Northern Superchargers became the first team to score 200 runs in a match in the competition's first season. While the women's team performed similarly as the previous season, the men's team improved finishing as runners-up, losing in the final to the Trent Rockets.

Southern Brave is a franchise 100-ball cricket side based in the city of Southampton. The team represents the historic counties of Hampshire and Sussex in the newly founded The Hundred competition, which took place for the first time during the 2021 English and Welsh cricket season. Both the men's side and the women's side play at the Rose Bowl, Hampshire.
The 2021 season of The Hundred was the inaugural season of The Hundred, a professional franchise 100-ball cricket tournament involving eight men's and women's teams located in major cities across England and Wales. The tournament was run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and took place for the first time, having been delayed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021 season was the Northern Superchargers first season of the new franchise 100 ball cricket, The Hundred. While not being a successful season for either the men's or women's teams, the men's team did set the record for becoming the first team to score 200 runs in a game, scoring 200 on 12 August 2021 in their win against Manchester Originals.
