Test cricket is a form of first-class cricket played at international level between teams representing full member countries of the International Cricket Council (ICC). A match consists of four innings in which players have to play until they get all batsmen out;the match ends when all batsmen of the opposing team are out. It is scheduled to last for up to five days with 8 hours of play each day. Only 90 overs can be bowled per day making it the sport with the longest playing time. In the past,some Test matches had no time limit and were called Timeless Tests. The term "test match" was originally coined in 1861–62 but in a different context.
Michael Andrew Atherton is a broadcaster,journalist and a former England international cricketer. A right-handed opening batsman for Lancashire and England,and occasional leg-break bowler,he achieved the captaincy of England at the age of 25 and led the side in a record 54 Test matches. Known for his stubborn resistance during an era of hostile fast bowling,Atherton was described in 2001 as a determined defensive opener who made "batting look like trench warfare". He had several famed bouts with bowlers including South Africa's Allan Donald and Australia's Glenn McGrath. Atherton often played the anchor role at a time when England batting performances lacked consistency.
Michael William Gatting is an English former cricketer,who played first-class cricket for Middlesex and for England from 1977 to 1995,captaining the national side in twenty-three Test matches between 1986 and 1988. He toured South Africa as captain of the rebel tour party in 1990.
Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards is an Antiguan retired cricketer who represented the West Indies cricket team between 1974 and 1991. Batting generally at number three in a dominant West Indies side,Richards is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time. Richards helped his team win the 1979 Cricket World Cup.

Greenidge is regarded worldwide as one of the greatest and most destructive opening batsmen in cricket history. In 2009,Greenidge was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
Allan Joseph Lamb is a South African-born former English cricketer,who played for the first-class teams of Western Province and Northamptonshire. Making his Test debut in 1982,he was a fixture in the Test and One-Day International team for the next decade. He represented England at three World Cups. He served as captain of Northamptonshire,and also captained England in three Test matches.
Ridley Detamore Jacobs is a former Antiguan cricketer,who played as a left-handed wicketkeeper batsman for the West Indian cricket team in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He was the first opening batsman to carry his bat in the history of Cricket World Cup and was the fourth batsman to do so in a One Day International. Jacobs also picked up 219 dismissals in tests along with 189 in ODIs,which is second only to Jeff Dujon,for the Windies in his international career.
Richard Keith Illingworth is an English former cricketer,who is currently an umpire. The bulk of his domestic cricketing career was with Worcestershire,although he had a spell with Derbyshire,and overseas with Natal. He played in nine Tests and twenty-five ODIs for England,including participating in the 1992 and 1996 Cricket World Cups.
Gareth Jon Batty is an English former cricketer who is best known as a spin-bowler. He has represented England in all formats and was the captain of Surrey County Cricket Club between 2015 and 2017. In October 2021,Batty retired from playing cricket and became a member of the coaching team at Surrey. He is the younger brother of former Yorkshire and Somerset off-spinner Jeremy Batty.
Peter Willey is a former English cricketer,who played as a right-handed batsman and right-arm offbreak bowler. In and out of the England team,he interrupted his international career for three years by taking part in the first of the England players' South African rebel tours in 1982. After his playing career ended,he became a Test umpire.
The Wisden Trophy was awarded to the winner of the Test cricket series played between England and the West Indies. It was first awarded in 1963 to commemorate the hundredth edition of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack. Series were played in accordance with the future tours programme,with varying lengths of time between tours. If a series was drawn then the country holding the Wisden Trophy retained it. In 2020,it was announced that the trophy would be replaced by the Richards–Botham Trophy named after Sir Vivian Richards and Sir Ian Botham.
Martyn Douglas Moxon is a former English cricketer,who played in ten Test matches and eight One Day Internationals for England and for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1980 and 1997. In May 2007,Moxon was confirmed as Director of Professional Cricket at Yorkshire,a role which he left in December 2021.
Nadine Andrea Julietta George MBE is a Jamaican former cricketer who played as a left-handed batter and wicket-keeper. She appeared in 1 Test match,41 One Day Internationals and 3 Twenty20 Internationals for the West Indies between 2003 and 2008. She was the first West Indian woman cricketer to score a hundred in a Test match,scoring 118 on Test debut against Pakistan in Karachi in the third innings of the only Test on the tour. George was awarded an MBE for her contributions to sport. She played domestic cricket for Saint Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago.
Robert Timothy Robinson is an English cricket umpire and former cricketer who played in 29 Test matches and 26 One Day Internationals for England from 1984 to 1989.
Enid Bakewell played for the English women's cricket team in 12 Tests between 1968 and 1979,and in 23 one-day international matches. A right-handed batter and slow left-arm orthodox bowler,on her figures she has a strong claim to be regarded as the best all-rounder that the English women's game has produced. In Tests she scored 1,078 runs at an average of 59.88,with 4 centuries,as well as taking 50 wickets at an average of 16.62. In what proved to be her final Test,she scored 68 and 112* and took 10 for 75 against West Indies at Edgbaston in 1979. Her final WODI appearance was in the final of the 1982 Women's Cricket World Cup.

Kraigg Clairmonte Brathwaite is a Barbadian cricketer who captains the West Indies in Test cricket. He is a right-handed batsman and occasionally bowls off breaks. On 6 November 2011,he became only the second West Indian to score two Test fifties before his 19th birthday when he made 63 (212) against India in Delhi. He has also effectively stood as stand-in-captain in place of Jason Holder in seven test matches before becoming the permanent captain of the test team taking over from Holder. He idolises Shivnarine Chanderpaul and his batting style.
Oliver John Douglas Pope is an English professional cricketer who plays for the England cricket team and Surrey County Cricket Club. He is a right-handed batter who occasionally plays as a wicket-keeper. He made his Test debut against India in 2018.
The West Indies cricket team toured England to play three Test matches. The team were originally scheduled to tour the country in May and June 2020. However,the series was initially postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Cricket West Indies stated that they would do everything they can to help accommodate the fixtures,including moving the fixtures back or even hosting them in the West Indies. A revised tour schedule,with the first Test starting in July,was proposed at the end of May 2020. The fixtures were confirmed the following month,with the matches all played behind closed doors. The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship.
