The 2022 season was the Southern Brave's second season of the 100 ball franchise cricket, The Hundred. The team entered the 2022 season having had the best combined season the year before, with the men's side being the reigning champions, and with the women's team finishing as runners-up.
While the women's team performed just as well as the 2021 season, finishing as runners-up for the second continuous season, the men's team struggled finishing in 7th place.

The 2021 season of The Hundred was the inaugural season of The Hundred, a professional franchise 100-ball cricket tournament involving eight men's and women's teams located in major cities across England and Wales. The tournament was run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and took place for the first time, having been delayed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021 season was the Northern Superchargers first season of the new franchise 100 ball cricket, The Hundred. While not being a successful season for either the men's or women's teams, the men's team did set the record for becoming the first team to score 200 runs in a game, scoring 200 on 12 August 2021 in their win against Manchester Originals.
