27In response to Russia's military action against Ukraine, Canadian major telecom companies Shaw, Rogers, Bell and Telus announced they would no longer offer Russian state-owned channel RT (formerly Russia Today) in their channel lineups, with Rogers replacing the RT broadcast with an image of the Ukrainian flag. This move was praised by Canada's Minister of Canadian Heritage Pablo Rodriguez who called the network the "propaganda arm" of Russian President Vladimir Putin. [1] [2]

30The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation launches CBC News Explore, a free ad-supported streaming television service offering a mixture of existing and new CBC news programming. [3]
Following the announcement earlier in 2022 that David Suzuki will retire from his longtime role as host of the documentary series The Nature of Things at the end of the 2022-23 season, the CBC announces that his successors will be Sarika Cullis-Suzuki and Anthony Morgan. [4]

CBC Docs POV is a Canadian television point-of-view documentary series, which airs on CBC Television. The Great Canadian Baking Show is a Canadian cooking competition television series which premiered on CBC Television on November 1, 2017. It is an adaptation of the U.K. series The Great British Bake Off, which is aired in Canada under the title The Great British Baking Show.

The Donald Brittain Award is a Canadian television award, presented by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television to honour the year's best television documentary on a social or political topic. Formerly presented as part of the Gemini Awards, since 2013 it has been presented as part of the Canadian Screen Awards. The award may be presented to either a standalone broadcast of a documentary film, or to an individual full-length episode of a news or documentary series; documentary films which originally premiered theatrically, but were not already submitted for consideration in a CSA film category before being broadcast on television, are also considered television films for the purposes of the award.

Mark Suknanan is a Canadian singer, television personality and drag queen. Competing under his drag name, Priyanka, Suknanan won the first season of the reality competition series Canada's Drag Race in 2020. He was previously a host of the YTV children's series The Zone and the YTV reality competition series The Next Star, where he went by Mark Suki. His first EP, Taste Test, was released in 2021.

Children Ruin Everything is a Canadian television sitcom, that premiered on CTV on January 12, 2022. Created by Kurt Smeaton for CTV, and originally Roku and later The CW, and co-produced by New Metric Media and Bell Media Studios, the series focuses on Astrid and James, a young couple struggling to define their lives outside of their role as parents.

Pretty Hard Cases is a Canadian police procedural crime comedy-drama television series that premiered on CBC Television on February 3, 2021. Originally announced with the working title Lady Dicks, the series was created by Tassie Cameron and Sherry White. In March 2021, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on January 5, 2022. IMDb TV became official co-producer for the series' second season, with the second season released on IMDb TV on April 22, 2022. In June 2022, at CBC's upfronts announcement event, the show was renewed for a third season, with Amazon Freevee still committed and on board to co-fund, co-produce and broadcast in the United States. Season 3 premiered on January 4, 2023 on CBC and CBC Gem in Canada, and on November 29 on Freevee.

Courtney Gilmour is a Canadian stand-up comedian, whose performances centre on her experiences as a congenital triple amputee. She is most noted as the joint winner with D.J. Mausner of the annual Homegrown Comics competition for emerging Canadian comedians at the 2017 Just for Laughs festival.

Dakota Ray Hebert is a Dene comedian, actress and writer from Canada. She is most noted for her performance in the 2021 film Run Woman Run, for which she won the awards for Best Actress at the 2021 American Indian Film Festival and Best Performance at the 2022 Vancouver International Women in Film Festival.
