The 2016 FIBA Europe 3x3 Championships was the second edition of the European 3x3 basketball event that featured separate competitions for men's and women's national teams. The tournament started on 25 June 2016 with the first of the three qualifying tournaments and its final tournament was played in the AFI Cotroceni shopping mall in Bucharest, Romania between 2 and 4 September 2016.

The 2019 FIBA 3x3 World Cup was held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The tournament consisted of 20 teams. Italy were the defending champions but were defeated in the Quarterfinals by France. China won the title, their first overall, after defeating Hungary, 19–13.
The men's and women's tournaments for 3x3 basketball were played at the 2019 Pacific Games on 18–20 July 2019 at the Faleata Sports Complex in Apia, Samoa. This event was staged in the covered outdoor venue of the Stade Omnisport Eyadema de Lomé. All African National Federations were invited to register a team for this event. Teams competed in two qualifiers in Benin and Madagascar to qualify for the event.
