Qualification for the 2024 African Nations Championship began on 25 October and will conclude on 29 December 2024 to determine the 19 nations, including co-host nations, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, expected to qualify for the final tournament. [1]

A total of 40 (out of 54) CAF member national teams entered qualification that was split into zones based on their regional affiliations and had its draw held on 9 October 2024 at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. [1]

Format

Qualification ties are played on a home-and-away two-legged basis. If the aggregate score is tied after the second leg, the away goals rule would be applied, and if still level, the penalty shoot-out would be used to determine the winner (no extra time would be played). [2]

Northern Zone

After Egypt and previous hosts Algeria withdrew before the draw, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia were the only teams entered: therefore, the Zone was scrapped and all three teams qualified automatically. [3]

Qualification for the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations began with the first round during the week of 18–26 October 2021 and concluded with the second during the week of 14–23 February 2022. For the first time in the tournament's history, 12 teams, including hosts (Morocco), qualified to play in the group stages.

The 2021–22 CAF Confederation Cup qualifying rounds were played from 10 September to 6 February 2022. A total of 51 teams competed in the qualifying rounds to decide the 16 places in the group stage of the 2021–22 CAF Confederation Cup.

The 2023–24 CAF Confederation Cup qualifying rounds began on 18 August and ended on 1 October 2023. A total of 52 teams competed in the qualifying rounds to decide the 16 places in the group stage of the 2023–24 CAF Confederation Cup.

The 2024 African U-17 Women's World Cup qualification was the 9th edition of the African U-17 Women's World Cup qualification, the biennial international youth football competition organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to determine which women's under-17 national teams from Africa qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. Players born on or after 1 January 2007 were eligible to compete in the tournament.

The preliminary round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification tournament decided the four teams which advanced to the group stage of the qualification tournament. The preliminary round consisted of the eight lowest-ranked teams among the 52 entrants, and was held from 20 to 26 March 2024.

Group D of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification was one of twelve groups that decided the teams which qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final tournament in Morocco. The group consisted of four teams: Nigeria, Benin, Libya and Rwanda.
