Jannik Sinner was the defending champion, ^[1] but retired in the third round against Tallon Griekspoor. ^[2]

At 38 years and four months old, Novak Djokovic became the oldest semifinalist in Masters history, overtaking his previous record set at the 2025 Miami Open. ^[3] The second-round match between Djokovic and Marin Čilić was the oldest ATP Masters 1000 singles match in terms of combined ages (75 years and 139 days) since the format was established in 1990. ^[4]

Valentin Vacherot became the first Monégasque player to reach an ATP Tour-level and a Masters-level singles quarterfinal and semifinal, ^{[5] [6]} the lowest-ranked Shanghai quarterfinalist and semifinalist since the event was established in 2009 (ranked No. 204), ^[7] and the second lowest-ranked Masters semifinalist overall since the format's establishment in 1990—after Chris Woodruff at the 1999 Indian Wells Open. ^[8]
