Opeth is a Swedish progressive metal band from Stockholm, formed in 1990. The band incorporates folk, blues, classical, and jazz elements into its usually lengthy compositions, as well as strong influences from death metal, especially in their early works. Songs may include acoustic guitar passages, Mellotrons, death growls, and strong dynamic shifts.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Candlemass (band)</span> Swedish doom metal band

Candlemass is a Swedish doom metal band formed in Upplands Väsby, a suburb of Stockholm, in 1984 by bassist, songwriter, and bandleader Leif Edling, alongside drummer Matz Ekström. The band has had a defining influence on doom metal, with the epic doom genre itself taking its name from their debut album Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. Along with Pentagram, Saint Vitus, and Trouble, Candlemass has been recognized as one of the "big four of doom metal".

At the Gates is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg, formed in 1990. The band was a major progenitor of Gothenburg-style melodic death metal alongside In Flames and Dark Tranquillity. Prior to their first disbandment in 1996, At the Gates released four albums, ending with and including Slaughter of the Soul (1995), which has been seen as a landmark in the mid-1990s Swedish death metal scene. After reuniting for a one-off tour in 2008, the band reformed once again in 2011, and they have since released three more albums: At War with Reality (2014), To Drink from the Night Itself (2018) and The Nightmare of Being (2021).

<i>Bingolotto</i> 1989 Swedish TV show

Bingolotto is a Swedish primetime television lottery game show that was first broadcast 1989 on local TV and since 1991 nationwide on the Swedish network TV4. The show is a collaboration work between Swedish TV channel TV4, the Swedish lottery game company Folkspel and the Swedish sports life. The show premiered on 16 January 1989 on the local TV channel Kållevisionen with the highly popular Leif "Loket" Olsson as show host. Since the beginning, the show has given 16 billion Swedish krona to the Swedish sports life centre.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Unleashed (band)</span> Swedish death metal band

Unleashed is a Swedish death metal band that was formed in 1989 by Johnny Hedlund in Stockholm. Common lyrical themes found in the band's music include Viking culture, recollection of a pre-Christian world, and Norse folklore. A number of their recent songs also contain references to J. R. R. Tolkien. Unleashed is considered one of the "big four" of Swedish death metal.

<i>Tre kronor</i> (TV series) 1994 Swedish TV series or program

Tre kronor is a Swedish soap opera that aired on TV4 during the period 1994–1999. The series took place in the fictional middle class suburb Mälarviken, located in the vicinity of Stockholm. The exteriors were filmed in Sätra, a suburb of Stockholm, and the interiors were filmed in a studio in Kvarnholmen as well as in Kungens Kurva. TV4 started Tre kronor in 1994 to compete for the viewers of SVT series Rederiet. Both shows aired in the same time slot and both had around 1-2 million viewers. The signature tune was written by Lasse Holm.

Heavy Load is a Swedish heavy metal band from Stockholm. The band is often hailed as the first Swedish heavy metal band, and were known for their Viking themes. The Wahlquist brothers, who founded the band in 1976 along with Michael Backler, were later producers and owners of Thunderload Records in Sweden, were at one point producing Veni Domine, and also Candlemass.

Leif "Loket" Olsson was a Swedish television presenter, sports journalist, radio host, and dansband singer. He is most recognised as the presenter of Bingolotto on TV4 between 1991 and 1999. Olsson got his breakthrough as the presenter of the radio programme Radio Ringlinjen which started in 1978. In 1992, Olsson was awarded the Lennart Hyland-Award as "most popular television personality of 1992" for his work on Bingolotto. Olsson was also known for presenting Svenska Idrottsgalan between 2000 and 2002, and also for the economy show Deklarera med Loket och Unni.

Schlacht is the second studio album by Swedish heavy metal band Avatar, released on 24 October 2007. The album reached at #27 on the Swedish album chart.
