The 2028 ICC Men's T20 World Cup qualification will be the qualifying process by which teams qualified for the 2028 Men's T20 World Cup. ^[1]

The qualification process for the 2028 tournament included two stages: direct qualification and regional qualification. 12 teams will be awarded direct qualification while the remaining teams will take part in the regional qualification to compete for the remaining 8 spots. The regional qualification will include series of sub-regional qualifiers and regional finals which will be held between 2026 and 2028.

Format

The top eight teams from the previous edition along with the 2028 hosts and the next best two to four teams (depending on the finishing positions of the hosts in the previous edition) from the ICC Men's T20I Team Rankings will automatically qualify for the tournament. The remaining eight teams will be decided by regional qualifiers. Each regional qualifier will be held in two stages:

• Sub-regional qualifiers: This stage comprises one or more tournaments depending on the ICC region. Matches are held in either single round-robin or double round-robin format. The stipulated number of teams advance into the next stage.
• Regional final: Top teams unable to earn automatic qualification along with teams advancing from the sub-regional qualifier take part in this stage. Matches are held in either single round-robin or double round-robin format. The stipulated number of teams will advance to the 2028 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Qualified teams

Australia and New Zealand qualified directly as hosts. If one or both hosts reached the Super 8 stage of the previous T20 World Cup, only six or seven teams will be required to avail of Super 8 qualification. The extra quota thus will go to qualification by world rankings.
