English batsman Joe Root broke his right thumb in the third ODI against the West Indies and was ruled out of the tournament, being replaced by Ian Bell. [33] English all-rounder Ben Stokes damaged his hand by punching a locker in the dressing room after he was dismissed in the third T20I against the West Indies. He was replaced by Chris Woakes. [34] Australian bowler Mitchell Johnson missed the tournament with an infection in his toe. He was replaced by Doug Bollinger. [35]
Nepalese all-rounder Prithu Baskota was suffering from a knee injury, which he picked up during the 2014 World Cup Qualifier in New Zealand and was replaced by his teammate Amrit Bhattarai. [36] On 16 March, Avinash Karn was replaced by Anil Mandal after Karn suffered an injury to his right knee and, therefore, was ruled out of the tournament. [37]
On 16 March, Dutch batsman Tim Gruijters was replaced by Tom Cooper—previously unavailable for the tournament due to domestic commitments with Australian state side South Australia—with the Dutch coaching staff stating that Gruijters was injured. However, Gruijters denied that he was injured and alleged that the "coaching staff decided to bend the rules, act against the spirit of cricket and basically cheat". [38] However, the ICC confirmed that they were satisfied that the KNCB had complied with the rules of the tournament. [39]
On 22 March, English all-rounder Luke Wright was ruled out of the tournament due to a side-strain. He was replaced by Craig Kieswetter. [40]
Timothy Grant Southee, is a New Zealand international cricketer who has captained New Zealand cricket team in all formats of the game. He is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and a hard-hitting lower order batsman. The third New Zealand bowler to take 300 Test wickets, he was one of the country's youngest cricketers, debuting at the age of 19 in February 2008. On his Test debut against England he took 5 wickets and made 77 off 40 balls in the second innings. He plays for Northern Districts in the Plunket Shield, Ford Trophy and Super Smash as well as Northland in the Hawke Cup. He was named as New Zealand's captain for the first T20I against West Indies in place of Kane Williamson, who was rested for that game. The Blackcaps won that match by 47 runs. Southee was a member of the New Zealand team that won the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. Southee currently has the highest (international) test batting strike rate among the batsmen with a minimum of 2000 test runs. His (batting) career strike rate is 83.12. He was also a part of the New Zealand squads to finish as runners-up in two Cricket World Cup finals in 2015 and 2019.

Natalie Ruth Sciver-Brunt is an English cricketer who represents England in all formats. She was the first cricketer for England to take a hat-trick in a Women's Twenty20 International match. The "Natmeg" shot is named after Sciver-Brunt, from when she has hit a cricket ball through her legs during a game.
Avinash Karn is a Nepalese professional cricketer. Karn is a right-handed batsman and a left-arm medium-fast bowler. He made his debut for Nepal against Afghanistan in August 2013.
Paul Adriaan van Meekeren is a Dutch cricketer who most recently played for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club. He has played domestically for Somerset and Durham in English county cricket, and for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in T20 franchise cricket. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler. Gloucestershire announced at the end of the 2023 season that his contract would not be renewed.
The 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, for the 2016 World Twenty20, was held from 6 to 26 July 2015. The tournament was hosted by both Ireland and Scotland. 51 matches were played among 14 nations, down from 72 matches among 16 nations previously. The tournament formed part of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier series, with the top six teams going forward to the qualifying round of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 tournament.

Alice Rose Capsey is an English cricketer who currently plays for Surrey, Oval Invincibles, Delhi Capitals and Melbourne Stars. An all-rounder, she is a right-handed batter and right-arm off break bowler. In 2021, Capsey was voted the inaugural PCA Women's Young Player of the Year. Capsey made her international debut for the England women's cricket team in July 2022.
