A Quiet Place: Day One is an upcoming American apocalyptic horror film written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, based on a story he conceived with John Krasinski. It serves as a spin-off prequel and the third installment in the A Quiet Place film series. The film stars Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, and Alex Wolff, with Djimon Hounsou reprising his role from A Quiet Place Part II (2020).
Paramount Pictures will release A Quiet Place: Day One in theaters in the United States on June 28, 2024.
Taking place before the first film, a woman named Sam must survive an invasion in New York City by bloodthirsty alien creatures with ultrasonic sound hearing.
In November 2020, Paramount Pictures announced a spin-off film set within the same world as A Quiet Place (2018), with Jeff Nichols set to write and direct, based on a story by John Krasinski. The film is a co-production between Platinum Dunes and Sunday Night Productions, with Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, and Krasinski producing. [6] [7] In May 2021, Krasinski announced that Nichols' script was complete and submitted to the studio. [8] By October, however, Nichols dropped out of the film due to creative differences while the studio was reported to be quickly looking for a replacement. [9] In January 2022, Michael Sarnoski was announced to replace Nichols as writer and director. [10]
The casting of Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn was reported in November 2022. [11] [12] Alex Wolff was cast in January 2023. [13] In March, it was announced that Djimon Hounsou was reprising his unnamed character from A Quiet Place Part II (2020), [14] now revealed to be named "Henri". [15]
Principal photography began on February 6, 2023 in London, [16] [17] and wrapped on April 11. [18]
A Quiet Place: Day One is scheduled to be released in the United States by Paramount Pictures on June 28, 2024. [19] It was previously scheduled to be released on March 31, 2023, then on September 22, 2023, and on March 8, 2024. [20] [21]
Djimon Gaston Hounsou is a Beninese-born actor. He began his career appearing in music videos and made his film debut in Without You I'm Nothing (1990). He then earned widespread recognition for his role as Cinqué in the Steven Spielberg film Amistad (1997), which earned him a Golden Globe nomination. For his performances in In America (2002) and Blood Diamond (2006), Honsou was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
John Burke Krasinski is an American actor and filmmaker. He is known for his role as Jim Halpert on the NBC sitcom The Office (2005–2013), where he was also a producer and occasional director. He directed, co-wrote and co-starred in the 2018 horror film A Quiet Place, for which Time named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world. He has since written and directed the sequel A Quiet Place Part II (2020).
