2005 taxonomy

Acochlidiidae was classified as the only family within the superfamily Acochlidioidea Küthe, 1935 in the taxonomy of Bouchet & Rocroi (2005). [4] Palliohedylidae was in turn classified as the only family within the superfamily Palliohedyloidea. [4]

2010 taxonomy

Schrödl & Neusser (2010) [1] redefined the taxonomy of Acochlidiacea in 2010, placing the family Acochlidiidae in the clade Hedylopsacea. [1]

Genera

According to Schrödl & Neusser (2010), [1] there are three genera in the family Acochlidiidae: [1]

Acochlidium Strubell, 1892 [1] [5]

Palliohedyle Rankin, 1979 [1]

Strubellia Odhner, 1937 [1]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Freshwater snail</span> Non-marine snail

Freshwater snails are gastropod mollusks that live in fresh water. There are many different families. They are found throughout the world in various habitats, ranging from ephemeral pools to the largest lakes, and from small seeps and springs to major rivers. The great majority of freshwater gastropods have a shell, with very few exceptions. Some groups of snails that live in freshwater respire using gills, whereas other groups need to reach the surface to breathe air. In addition, some are amphibious and have both gills and a lung. Most feed on algae, but many are detritivores and some are filter feeders.

This overview lists proposed changes in the taxonomy of gastropods at the family level and above since 2005, when the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi (2005) was published. In other words, these are recent updates in the way various groups of snails and slugs are classified.
