The Sir Walter Hotel is the oldest surviving hotel building in Raleigh, North Carolina. Constructed between 1923 and 1924 on Fayetteville Street and named after Sir Walter Raleigh, the hotel was nicknamed North Carolina's "third house of government," due to its location and being a focal point for state political activity until the 1960s.
The Lancaster and Waumbek Apartments were small apartment buildings respectively located at 227-29 and 237-39 East Palmer Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. The apartments were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. They were demolished in November 2005.

William Lee Stoddart (1868–1940) was an architect best known for designing urban hotels in the eastern United States. Although he was born in Tenafly, New Jersey, most of his commissions were in the South. He maintained offices in Atlanta and New York City.
The Kingston Arms Apartments is an apartment building located at 296 East Grand Boulevard in Detroit, Michigan, in the East Grand Boulevard Historic District. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. The Kingston Arms, built in 1924, is a representative example of the rise of middle-class apartment buildings in pre-Depression era Detroit.
The Midtown Woodward Historic District is a historic district located along Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. Structures in the district are located between 2951 and 3424 Woodward Avenue, and include structures on the corner of Charlotte Street and Peterboro Street. The district was admitted to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
James Addison Jones, was the founder of J.A. Jones Construction, as well as being a known philanthropist for many organizations such as the Methodist Church, the city of Charlotte, North Carolina and surrounding areas, regional hospitals, and several other companies. He was the benefactor and namesake for the James Addison Jones Library at Greensboro College and the J.A. Jones Library at Brevard College. His company was also responsible for the assistance of the building of the Liberty fleet during World War II. Jones was married four times in his lifetime and had fifteen children.
The Cherry Hotel is a historic hotel building located at Wilson, Wilson County, North Carolina. It was designed by Charles Collins Benton in Beaux Arts style and built in 1917. It is a six-story, "U"-shaped brick building with approximately 200 rooms. The interior features a two-story lobby with Art Deco style lighting fixtures. The hotel closed in 1981. It was subsequently converted to apartments.
The First Colony Inn, also known as LeRoy's Seaside Inn, First Colony Motor Inn, First Colony Apartments, and Colony Beach Inn, is a historic hotel building located at Nags Head, Dare County, North Carolina. It was designed by Willis Leigh and built by Frank Benton It first opened in 1932 as LeRoy's Seaside Inn, by Henry LeRoy of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. The inn is a 2 1/2-story, balloon frame building in the vernacular Shingle Style. The building is divided into three equal sections separated by open breezeways and arranged in an "H"-shaped configuration. Surrounding the building is a two-story engaged verandah.
Ottari Sanitarium, also known as the Coburn Apartments, is a historic building complex located at 491 Kimberly Avenue in Asheville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. The original section was built in 1912, and now forms the east end of the building. It is a three-story, stuccoed brick building with a hipped roof. It was enlarged in 1923, with the addition of a three-story, 14 bay brick addition, connected to the original building by a two-story section. The building was converted to apartments in 1937.
Lenoir Grammar School, also known as East Harper School, is a historic elementary school building located at Lenoir, Caldwell County, North Carolina. It was built in 1927, and is a two-story, five bay, Classical Revival-style brick school. Additions were made in 1951-1952 and 1958. The school was closed after a fire in 1987, and renovated into apartments in the 1990s.
Highland School, also known as Highland Graded School, is a historic school building located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina. It was built in 1921, and is a two-story, brick building with hipped slate roof in the Classical Revival style. It has a projecting nine-bay central pavilion. A brick "gymtorium"(which has since been torn down) and lunchroom building was built in 1950 and connected by a covered walkway. It has since been converted into the Highland School Apartments.
Pomona High School, Former, also known as Lindley Junior High School, is a historic school building located at Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina. The original section was built about 1920, and is a two-story, nine bay, "U"-shaped, Classical Revival style building. Two projecting wings were added in 1940, and in 1951, the space was filled between the wings. It is faced with dark bricks accented with limestone, concrete, and terra cotta ornament. The building features a one-story limestone entrance portico supported by four Doric order columns. The school closed in 1979. It has been converted to apartments.
Hardee Apartments, also known as Jarrell Apartments, is a historic apartment building located at High Point, Guilford County, North Carolina. It was built in 1924, and is a two-story, four unit, Mission Revival style building. The frame building has a stuccoed finish. It features massive two-tiered corner porches and a pair of central stair entrances.
Kinston Apartments is a historic apartment complex located in Kinston, Lenoir County, North Carolina. It was built about 1940, and is a five building Colonial Revival style brick-faced complex, with the buildings positioned in a "U"-shape. The buildings are two-story, with full basements, and have Moderne style decorative elements. Three of the buildings have four apartment units, with two having two three-bedroom apartments. The buildings were renovated in 2003. It is locally referred to as Kinston Oaks.
Joy Lee Apartment Building and Annex is a historic apartment building located at Carolina Beach, New Hanover County, North Carolina. The original building was built in 1945, and is a two-story, double-pile concrete block building covered with stucco. It features fanciful concrete balustrades and walls, and an Art Deco-inspired centered portico over the front entryway added in 1957. A two-story double-pile Modern Movement style Annex comprising four apartments was built in 1948.
Boylan Apartments is a historic apartment complex located in Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. The three buildings were built in 1935, and are three-story, Colonial Revival style brick buildings arranged in a "U" shape plan around an open courtyard. Each building consists of 18 one and two-bedroom units. They were designed by the architectural firm Linthicum & Linthicum and built with funds supplied by the Public Works Administration (PWA).
Grosvenor Gardens Apartments is a historic apartment complex located at Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina. The three buildings were built in 1935, and are three-story, Colonial Revival style brick buildings arranged in a “U” shape plan around an open landscaped courtyard. It is a pedimented gable-roofed structure with symmetrically arranged three- and five bay units, three of which feature two-story convex porticos facing the center courtyard. There are 58 efficiency units, one basement apartment with one bedroom, one two-bedroom apartment, one three-bedroom apartment, and a laundry room in the complex.
Ben-Wiley Hotel is a historic hotel building located at Fuquay-Varina, Wake County, North Carolina. It was built in 1925, and is a Bungalow / American Craftsman style frame building consisting of two hip-roofed blocks; the two-story main block with a hip roofed front porch, and a two-story rear block. It is sheathed in weatherboard and has widely overhanging eaves. It was converted from 12 hotel rooms to 6 apartments in 1947.
The Saint Rita Apartments is an apartment building located at 35 Owen Street in the North End, of Detroit, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.
