Croft Historic District is a national historic district located near Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses seven contributing buildings and one contributing structure in the crossroads community of Croft in rural Mecklenburg County. Contributing resources include the S. W. & C. S. Davis General Store (1908), two-story Queen Anne style S. W. Davis House (1903) and flower house (c. 1903), the old Croft School (c. 1890, c. 1912), three warehouses (c. 1910, c. 1925, and c. 1930), and a section of the (former) Atlantic. Tennessee and Ohio Railroad Tracks (1871). [2]

It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. [1]

Holt, Presbyterian Church also by Holt, Baptist Church, Methodist Episcopal Church, Miles Hardware Store, Warrenton City Hall, Warrenton Hotel, John Graham School, and the U.S. Post Office.

North Charlotte Historic District United States historic place

The North Charlotte Historic District is a 155.5-acre (62.9 ha) national historic district located in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The listing included 282 contributing buildings and four contributing structures. It includes work designed by architect Stuart Warren Cramer; it includes Bungalow/craftsman, Late Victorian, vernacular Victorian, reflecting turn-of-the-century mill-village architecture. Located in the district is the separately listed Highland Park Mill No. 3. Other notable buildings include the Mecklenburg Mill, Johnston Mill (1913), Grinnell Manufacturing Company, Hand Pharmacy Building (1904), Lowder Building (1927), the former Highland Inn, Charlotte Fire Department Engine Company No. 9 (1937), and North Charlotte Primary School.

Highland Park Manufacturing Company Mill No. 3 United States historic place

The Highland Park Manufacturing Company Mill No. 3 is a historic textile mill complex and national historic district located at 2901 N. Davidson St. in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses included five contributing buildings and are the original mill building (1903-1904) and major weaving room addition, Gate House, Dye House, Boiler House, and Waste House (1903-1904). The original mill was designed by Stuart W. Cramer and features a four-story tower capped by fancy corbelling and crenelated parapets.

Charles Christian Hook (1870–1938) was an American architect. He was also the founder of FreemanWhite, Inc. a Haskell Company (1892), the oldest practicing firm in North Carolina and currently the 11th oldest architecture firm in the United States.

Halifax Historic District is a national historic district located at Halifax, Halifax County, North Carolina, US that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 with an increase in 2011. It includes several buildings that are individually listed on the National Register. Halifax was the site of the signing of the Halifax Resolves on April 12, 1776, a set of resolutions of the North Carolina Provincial Congress which led to the United States Declaration of Independence gaining the support of North Carolina's delegates to the Second Continental Congress in that year.

The district includes two government complexes: the Cape Lookout Lighthouse Station and the Cape Lookout Coast Guard Station. In addition, 14 buildings, a long dock, and the circulation network, as well as the landscape in which these lie, compose the district. The district encompasses 759 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 12 contributing structures in a predominantly middle- to upper-class residential section of High Point. They were built between 1903 and 1963 and include notable examples of Colonial Revival architecture, Tudor Revival architecture, and Bungalow / American Craftsman architecture. Located in the district and listed separately are the Lucy and J. Vassie Wilson House, Dr. C. S. Grayson House, Hardee Apartments, J. C. Siceloff House, John H. Adams House, and A. E. E. M. Backus Lodge United States historic place

E. M. Backus Lodge, also known as Camp Toxaway, The Cold Mountain Lodge and Canaan Land Christian Retreat , is a historic hunting lodge and national historic district located near Lake Toxaway, Jackson County and Transylvania County, North Carolina. The lodge was built about 1903, and is a 2-story, double-pile house of chestnut logs. The lodge contains eight rooms on two floors, each grouped around a central hall. Also on the property are the contributing log stable, caretaker's cottage, guest cottage, barn, and Davis Cottage. The site was the former hunting lodge of Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Harvey Firestone. The camp became an exclusive girls' camp, Camp Toxaway, in 1922, and a religious and educational retreat in 1955 known as Canaan Land.The estate was bought by George and Nancy Corbett of Florida in 1986 and is still operated by the Corbett family.

Hamilton C. Jones III House United States historic place

Hamilton C. Jones III House, also known as The Stone House, is a historic home located at Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It was built between 1929 and 1931, and is a massive, 2 1/2-story, four bay, granite, Tudor Revival style dwelling. It is constructed of four-inch terra cotta tiles sheathed in ashlar granite, stucco, and half-timbering, and has a side-gable roof with dormers. It is a 1 1/2-story service ell. Also on the property is a contributing playhouse. It was the home of Congressman Hamilton C. Jones.

Potts Plantation United States historic place

Potts Plantation is a historic plantation complex and national historic district located near Cornelius, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 11 contributing buildings, 12 contributing sites, and 4 contributing structures in rural Mecklenburg County. The plantation seat was built in 1811, and consists of a two-story, three bay, weatherboarded log house on a low brick foundation with flanking one-story wings added in 1947. The house has Federal, Late Victorian, and Colonial Revival style design elements. Associated with the plantation seat are the contributing smokehouse, dependency, poultry house, double-pen log barn work area, and corn crib. Other notable contributing resources are the Slave Cemetery, five tenant complexes, the Smith Cottage Complex, Smith Cottage, and Potts Cemetery (1946). The Potts Plantation has been the property of the Potts family since 1753.

Eugene Wilson Hodges Farm United States historic place

Eugene Wilson Hodges Farm is a historic home, farm, and national historic district located near Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses four contributing buildings, one contributing site, and five contributing structures in rural Mecklenburg County. The Eugene Wilson Hodges House was built about 1908, and is a two-story, three-bay I-house with two parallel one-story rear ells. It has a slate triple-A roof and two exterior, stuccoed-brick chimneys. It features a vernacular Colonial Revival hip roofed wraparound front porch with Doric order columns. Other contributing resources include two chicken coops, a wellhouse, barn, two granaries, two silos, and the agricultural landscape.

Green Morris Farm United States historic place

Green Morris Farm was a historic home, farm, and national historic district located near Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompassed two contributing buildings and one contributing site in rural Mecklenburg County. The farmhouse was built about 1870, and was a two-story, three-bay I-house with two one-story rear additions. It had a hipped roof and blend of vernacular Greek Revival / Italianate style design elements. The front facade featured a one-story, facade-width porch topped by a center-bay balcony. Other contributing resources were a machinery shed and the agricultural landscape. It has been demolished.

John F. Ewart Farm United States historic place

John F. Ewart Farm is a historic home, farm, and national historic district located near Huntersville, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The district encompasses five contributing buildings and one contributing site in rural Mecklenburg County. The farmhouse was built in 1898, and is a two-story, three-bay, vernacular I-house with a rear kitchen ell. It has a triple-A roof and two exterior, brick end chimneys. It features a pedimented gable front porch. Other contributing resources include a dairy and well canopy, a smokehouse, barn, barn, and the agricultural landscape.

Notable buildings include the Will Davis Store, Jesse Lucas Store, Lucama Depot (1905), Kinchen Barnes Store, W. J. Newsome Store, Lousetta Newsome House (1887), Dr. Ben Hackney House, and Lucama Methodist Church (1915).
