Alexandr Magala (born 24 June 1989 in Orhei) is a Moldovan entertainer and sword swallower who won Russia's Got Talent in 2014. He was also a finalist on Britain's Got Talent [1] and Italia's Got Talent , [2] a semi-finalist on Ukraine's Got Talent , and a quarter-finalist on America's Got Talent.

Early life and education

Magala was born to a poor family in Orhei, the administrative center of Orhei District in Moldova, with a population of 32,000. He moved to Chișinău, the capital of Moldova, to attend college. [3] Soon after, he met friends with whom he formed a dance group; they went on to perform throughout the city.[ citation needed ]

Career

Magala moved to Hollywood in 2011 with no contacts in America. [4] His first-ever payment was $4.50, which he earned by performing a sword swallowing act on Hollywood Boulevard. He often swallowed his own blood due to internal injuries; sometimes he was unable to eat for days.[ citation needed ]

In 2013, Magala was selected to participate in the TV show America's Got Talent, where he became a quarterfinalist and quickly gained popularity. He also reached the final of Italia's Got Talent and won Russia's Got Talent.

He went on to perform at the 2014 Winter Olympics opening ceremony in Sochi. In 2016, he was a finalist in the tenth series of Britain's Got Talent, where his performances were pre-recorded in case he hurt himself. He finished in 9th place. [5] [6]

In 2019, he competed in Australia's Got Talent.

It took place in Kyiv, Ukraine, following the country's victory at the 2004 contest with the song "Wild Dances" by Ruslana. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU), the contest was held at the Palace of Sports, and consisted of a semi-final on 19 May, and the final on 21 May 2005. The two live shows were presented by Maria Efrosinina and Pavlo Shylko.

Sword swallowing Performance skill

Sword swallowing is a skill in which the performer passes a sword through the mouth and down the esophagus to the stomach. This feat is not swallowing in the traditional sense. The natural processes that constitute swallowing do not take place, but are repressed to keep the passage from the mouth to the stomach open for the sword. The practice is dangerous and there is risk of injury or death.

America's Got Talent is a televised American talent show competition, and is part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. The program is produced by Fremantle USA and Syco Entertainment, distributed by the former, and broadcast on the NBC television network, premiering on June 21, 2006, after plans for a British edition in 2005 were suspended following a dispute within the British broadcaster ITV; production would later resume in 2007, following the success of the first season. <i>Britains Got Talent</i> Televised British talent competition

Britain's Got Talent is a televised British talent show competition, and part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell. Presented by Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, it is produced by both Thames and Syco Entertainment, distributed by Fremantle, and broadcast on ITV every year in late Spring to early Summer. The show was originally intended for production in 2005, but filming was suspended in the wake of a dispute between ITV and the programme's originally planned host. The implausibility of some of his performances, such as regurgitating a "solved" Rubik's cube, have resulted in some observers believing that he is an illusionist. Got Talent is a British talent show TV format conceived and owned by Simon Cowell's SYCOtv company. It has spawned spin-offs in over 69 countries, in what is now referred to as the 'Got Talent' format, similar to that described by Fremantle of the Idol and The X Factor formats. Unlike those shows, Got Talent showcases several artistic disciplines in addition to singing. In April 2014, the format was named the world's most successful reality TV format ever by the Guinness World Records.

Kseniya Simonova

Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian sand animation performance artist who also works in the mediums of graphic design, illustration, as well as cinema and literature. She holds the title of Merited Artist of Ukraine and in 2009 rose to prominence when after winning the Ukraine's Got Talent television contest. Her act was the only act to receive two Golden Buzzers on two different "The Champions" series of the Got Talent franchise.

The fifth series of British talent competition programme Britain's Got Talent was broadcast on ITV, from 16 April to 4 June 2011; due to live coverage of the 2011 UEFA Champions League Final on 28 May, the final audition episode of the series was pushed back a day to avoid clashing with it. As Piers Morgan had departed from the programme the previous year, and the schedule of Simon Cowell made him unable to attend auditions, the producers arranged for Amanda Holden to be joined by David Hasselhoff and Michael McIntyre on the judging panel. For the latter he is also referred to as a "Human toolbox". He holds several World Records. His brother Rod assists him in some performances.

Jonathan Clegg is a British comedian and impressionist, who is best known for finishing seventh in the eighth series of Britain's Got Talent.

Eduard Eduardovych Romanyuta is a Ukrainian singer, songwriter, actor, and television presenter. He represented Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with his song "I Want Your Love", which failed to qualify for the Contest's grand final.

The tenth series of British talent competition programme Britain's Got Talent was broadcast on ITV, from 9 April to 28 May 2016. To celebrate nine years of the show, the final featured a special performance entitled "Best of Britain’s Got Talent", which featured several participants who had appeared on the show during the previous nine series, including Ashleigh and Pudsey, Attraction, Diversity, Jon Clegg, Stavros Flatley, Collabro and Spelbound. It was the last series to have its live episodes broadcast at The Fountain Studios before the site's closure that year.

The Circus of Horrors is a British contemporary circus created by John (Dr) Haze and Gerry Cottle. First seen performing at the Glastonbury Festival in 1995. Combining horror, black comedy and rock and roll with circus acts, it uses goth and steampunk imagery, and references Victorian freak shows and burlesque. They were semi-finalists on Britain's Got Talent in 2011.

Laura Bretan is a Romanian-American soprano. She was the winner of season six of the Pro TV series Romania's Got Talent, and later placed sixth in season eleven of America's Got Talent, both in 2016.

America's Got Talent: The Champions is a spin-off of America's Got Talent, a televised American talent show competition, created by Simon Cowell. The program is produced by Fremantle for the NBC television network, and first premiered on January 7, 2019. The program functions similar to AGT, but involves a variety of participants taken from across both AGT and the Got Talent franchise – including winners, finalists, live round participants and other notable entries – who compete against each other to secure a place in a grand final, in which the winner receives a cash prize and the title of America's chosen "World Champion" within Got Talent.
