Ali Khamis Abbas Ali Khamis [1] (born 30 June 1995) is a Bahraini track and field athlete who competes mainly in the 400 metres sprint and 400 metres hurdles. His personal best for the flat event is 44.36 seconds, set in 2013, while his hurdles best is 49.55 seconds, set in 2014. He was the 2014 Asian Games champion in the hurdles and the runner-up in the sprint at the 2013 Asian Athletics Championships

Career

Khamis made his international debut at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics. There he ran in the heats of the 400 m hurdles and set a personal best of 54.27 seconds over the youth height barriers. [2] He also was part of Bahrain's Swedish medley relay team. [1] At the 2012 Asian Junior Athletics Championships – despite winning his heat in a best of 52.67 seconds – he faltered in the 400 m hurdles final and finished last. [3] He also competed at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Athletics, running in the heats only. [2]

Two national junior records in the 400 metres sprint came for Khamis at the 2013 Arab Athletics Championships: he ran 46.90 seconds in the qualifiers then 46.25 seconds in the final to take the bronze medal (his first senior podium finish) behind Saudi athletes Yousef Masrahi and Ismail Al-Sabiani. [4] He reached the podium for a second time that year at the 2013 Asian Athletics Championships. wtsh

repeated as champion, Khamis took the silver medal with a significant new best time of 45.65 seconds. [5] 

Khamis began his 2014 season with a 400 m sprint/hurdles double at the Arab Junior Athletics Championships in Cairo. He made his debut on the IAAF Diamond League circuit in May, running in the 400 m at the Doha Diamond League and placing runner-up. [4] The hurdles remained his focus that year, as he returned in the event at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Athletics. He set a string of bests at the competition, improving from 51.10 in the heats to 49.55 seconds in the final – a time which brought him second place to Jamaica's Jaheel Hyde. [2] [6] He maintained this form at the 2014 Asian Games held two months later and a run of 49.71 seconds was enough for the Bahraini teenager to win the 400 m hurdles gold medal. [7] He ranked in the top fifty worldwide and second in Asia on time that season, behind only Kazakhstan's Dmitriy Koblov. [8]

Warren Weir is a retired Jamaican sprinter, who specialized in the 200 metres. He was the bronze medallist in the event at the 2012 London Olympics, helping Jamaica sweep the medals. At the 2002 West Asian Games. the athletics events were held in Kuwait City, Kuwait in April 2002. It had a men's only programme containing seventeen track and field events. In January 2019, it was reported that Adekoya tested positive for an illegal steroid stanozolol in an out-of-competition test in November 2018 and was provisionally suspended. All of her results achieved after 24 August 2018 were also stripped.

Nicholas Kiplagat Bett was a Kenyan track and field athlete who competed in the 400 metres hurdles. His personal best for the event is 47.79 seconds. He was a world champion in the event, having won in 2015, and a two-time bronze medallist at the African Championships in Athletics. He died in a road accident in Kenya at the age of 28.

Takashi Nagao is a Japanese former track and field athlete who competed in the 400 metres hurdles. He was the gold medallist at the 1982 Asian Games and the 1981 Asian Athletics Championships, as well as runner-up at those tournaments in 1978 and 1979.

The 2014 Arab Junior Athletics Championships was the sixteenth edition of the international athletics competition for under-20 athletes from Arab countries. It took place between 23–26 April in Cairo, Egypt. It was the fifth time that the Egyptian capital hosted the event. A total of 44 athletics events were contested, 22 for men and 22 for women.

Abderrahman Almoubarrake Samba Alsaleck is a Qatari male track and field athlete who specialises in the 400 metres hurdles. He was born and grew up in Saudi Arabia but chose to represent Mauritania – his father's homeland – before eventually switching allegiance to Qatar and moving to Doha in 2015. He became eligible to compete for his adopted country in May 2016. He was the second person to run the 400m hurdle event in less than 47 seconds.

Ronald Levy is a Jamaican male track and field athlete who competes in the 110 metres hurdles. He was the gold medallist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and represented his country at the World Championships in Athletics in 2017.
