Andrew Cardozo is a Canadian senator for Ontario. He was appointed to the Senate of Canada by Governor General Mary Simon on November 21,2022,on the advice of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. [2] Cardozo is a member of the Progressive Senate Group. [3]
Prior to his appointment to the Senate,Cardozo was the president of the Pearson Centre for Progressive Policy for nearly ten years. He is a former commissioner of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. [2] Cardozo currently sits on the Standing Senate Committees on Transport and Communications and on National Security,Defence and Veterans Affairs. [4] [5]
Senator Cardozo has been the recipient of a number of awards such as the 2023 DreamKeepers Citation for Outstanding Leadership award commemorating the historic role of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, [6] the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal, [7] the Reelworld Film Festival Guardian Angel Award (Toronto),Big Brother of the Year (Ottawa),and the King Charles III Coronation Medal. On the eve of his pending retirement from the Senate,Day tweeted his farewell remarks. He mentioned that it was an honour to serve his fellow New Brunswickers and all Canadians. Furthermore,he also gave a farewell speech. He retired from the Senate on January 24,2020,upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 75.

Marjory LeBreton is a Canadian former leader of the Government in the Senate of Canada;a member of the Canadian cabinet;and past national chair of Mothers Against Drunk Driving in Canada. She worked with four leaders of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada - John Diefenbaker,Robert Stanfield,Joe Clark and Brian Mulroney - from 1962 to 1993 before being appointed to the Senate on the advice of Mulroney. She sat as a Progressive Conservative Senator from her appointment until moving with most of her caucus colleagues to the new Conservative Party of Canada in 2004,of which she was soon elected to Chief Whip. She served as an advisor to then opposition leader Stephen Harper during the 2006 election,which the Conservative Party won. After the election,she was named to the cabinet position Leader of the Government in the Senate. On July 4,2013,LeBreton announced she would not continue in the position as of the next cabinet shuffle,which occurred later that summer. She retired from the Senate upon reaching her 75th birthday on July 4,2015.

Beyak was suspended from the Senate twice;a first time for posting letters to her website that were considered to be offensive to First Nations peoples,and a second time for failing to comply with mandated anti-racism training.
