Anil Goswami (born 14 January 1955) is an Indian Administrative Service officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre and held the post of Union Home Secretary of India in the Ministry of Home Affairs till February 2015. He succeeded Raj Kumar Singh. He is the first civil servant from the state to hold this position. His son is the popular television actor Bhanu Uday.
Goswami was born on 14 January 1955 in Jammu. He graduated from the second division in history,economics and English,and completed his post-graduation in the first division in history. [1]
Goswami was the first chief executive of the Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. The board,set up in August 1986,is responsible for the maintenance of the Hindu pilgrimage Vaishno Devi. [2] Goswami served in the state tourism department as the Principal Secretary from 29 June 2004 to 17 November 2005. He was later appointed by the state cabinet,headed by the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad,as the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister on 17 November 2005. He held this office until 17 July 2008. On 4 February 2009 he took over the office of Principal Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department. He was a member of the delegation that visited the Line of Control in North Kashmir in September 2009. [4]
On 4 February 2015 he was made to resign due to his admittance of talking to the CBI to favour the arrested Singh in the Saradha Scam case. He was found to commit the telephone call to CBI and hence resigned after queried by the Home Ministry Office and the PMO office.
Goswami assumed the office of Secretary of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 2 July 2012. He remained in this capacity until 27 April 2013,when he was appointed the officer on special duty (OSD) in the Ministry of Home Affairs. [5] He was named Union Home Secretary by the appointing committee of the cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister of India,Manmohan Singh. The two other candidates who were considered for the position but not selected by the committee were Secretary Ministry of Steel D.R.S. Chaudhary and P. K. Misra,Secretary Department of Personnel and Training,Ministry of Personnel,Public Grievances and Pensions. [6] Goswami assumed the office on 1 July 2013 after the retirement of Raj Kumar Singh of the Bihar cadre. He is the first civil servant from Jammu and Kashmir to serve as Home Secretary of India. On 21 August 2014,Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi informed the Supreme court of India that he had received two calls from Mr. Goswami informing him that he has two options,either to resign or prepare to be sacked. Government claimed that it did not attempt to force Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi from office. Supreme Court however,ordered the centre to explain whether Mr Qureshi had in fact received the alleged two phone calls from the Center asking him to resign. [10]
On 4 February 2015,news channels are buzzing with reports of Mr. Goswami being asked to resign or be ready to be sacked,as he is alleged to have tried to stall the arrest of Saradha scam accused and former Minister Matang Sinh. Apparently,Mr. Goswami has resigned. [11] [12] [13] [14]

The Jammu &Kashmir National Panthers Party is a socialist and secular state political party in the state of Jammu and Kashmir,India. The party was founded on 23 March 1982 by Prof. Bhim Singh and a few prominent youth political personalities of the time including Jay Mala,former President of the Indian Students Congress. Its aim is to "demolish corruption,communalism,criminalization,drug menace" and to establish a real democracy through ultimate revolution. These demands were finally met by a presidential order in August 2019 that revoked Jammu and Kashmir's special status. Panthers Party campaigns for a further division of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,with the recognition of Hindu-majority Jammu Division as a new and separate state of India.

Jagmohan Malhotra,known by the mononym Jagmohan,was an Indian civil servant and politician. After working with the Indian National Congress,he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1995. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station is a railway station on the Jammu Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla Railway Link in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It mainly serves for the town of Katra where the major hindu divine temple Shri Mata Vaishno Devi is situated which is visited by millions of travellers per month with the help of this station and its frequent special trains connectivity from all over India. In the wake of heavy monsoon rain and flash floods in Jammu and Kashmir,the Indian Armed Forces were deployed in increasing numbers starting 2 September 2014 to conduct search,rescue,relief,relocation,humanitarian assistance and rehabilitation missions in Jammu and Kashmir. By 18 September,over 298,514 people were rescued from the various parts of Jammu and Kashmir by the Armed forces. The Jammu and Kashmir floods,the worst in a century according to Omar Abdullah,the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir,paralyzed the state government. Omar Abdullah,responding to public criticism,told the media "I had no government" in the first few days following the floods,as "My secretariat,the police headquarters,the control room,fire services,hospitals,all the infrastructure was underwater." Adding "I had no cell phone and no connectivity. I am now starting to track down ministers and officers." The Jammu and Kashmir floods of 2014 have been blamed on heavy rainfall,about 8 inches (200mm) on 4 September alone,on climate change,unplanned and uncontrolled development,encroachment of river banks,lakes,ponds,and massive loss of wet lands,absence of local government flood forecasting system,and poor governance. The Armed Forces humanitarian assistance mission in response to the floods was named Mission Sahayata (assistances). Northern Command's humanitarian assistance to Civil authorities was named 'Operation Megh Rahat'. The Indian Army,Air Force,and the Navy,committed large resources to the assistance mission including over 30,000 troops,15 engineer task forces,84 Indian Air Force and Army Aviation Corps fixed wing transport aircraft and helicopters,naval commandos and rescue specialists,and Base Hospital,four field hospitals,over 106 medical detachments. "Operation Megh Rahat",ended on 19 September 2014,but "Operation Sadbhavna",the relief and medical assistance support,according to government press release,will continue in "close synergy with the civil administration and the police".
Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh is an Indian politician and was the last Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State. He is a former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir. He is a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party. On 1 March 2015,he assumed the charge of the Minister for Power Development and Housing and Urban Development.

The Vaishno Devi Temple also referred to as Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Temple and Vaishno Devi Bhavan is a prominent and widely revered Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Vaishno Devi. It is located in Katra,Reasi on the slopes of Trikuta Hills within the union territory of Jammu &Kashmir in India. The temple is recognized as one of the 108 Maha (major) Shakti Peethas dedicated to Durga,who is worshipped as Vaishno Devi. Having the principal aspect of Durga,hindus consider Vaishno Devi as an incarnation of Kali,Saraswati and Lakshmi. The temple is governed by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB),chaired by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir in August 1986.
Maharani (transl. Empress) is an 2021 Indian Hindi-language drama streaming television series created by Subhash Kapoor.
