The Asolo Altarpiece is a 1506 oil-on-panel altarpiece, measuring 175 x 162 cm, by the Italian Renaissance painter Lorenzo Lotto. For a long time it was displayed in the Santa Caterina Oratory in Asolo but it is thought to have originally been painted for the Battuti confraternity's side-chapel in Asolo Duomo, where it now hangs. It is signed "Laurent[ius] Lotus / Junio[r] [1] M.D.VI" on a cartouche in the lower centre. It dates to the end of his time in Treviso. [2]
It shows a vision of the Assumption of Mary, shown as an old woman being taken up to heaven in a mandorla of light accompanied by four small angels. Her face may be based on that of Caterina Cornaro, who at that time headed a lively court full of artists and writers in Asolo. If this is correct, she may have commissioned it or it may have been commissioned by someone wishing to praise her.
Witnessing the vision are Antony the Great to the left and Louis of Toulouse to the right – the Battuti ran a hospital for the poor and sick so Antony (often prayed to for cures) and Louis (who renounced all worldly honours, including the throne of France) are apt choices. Lotto shows the influence of Perugino and others by creating a sense of movement through cutting off the top point of the mandorla. [3] The landscape in the background may be based on Feltre, specifically the bell tower and church of its Santuario dei Santi Martiri Vittore e Corona on a rise to the left, its system of bridges in the centre and its castle (as it would have appeared just before its destruction in the War of the League of Cambrai in 1510) to the right.
Lorenzo Lotto was an Italian painter, draughtsman, and illustrator, traditionally placed in the Venetian school, though much of his career was spent in other north Italian cities. He painted mainly altarpieces, religious subjects and portraits. He was active during the High Renaissance and the first half of the Mannerist period, but his work maintained a generally similar High Renaissance style throughout his career, although his nervous and eccentric posings and distortions represented a transitional stage to the Florentine and Roman Mannerists.
Asolo is a town and comune in the Veneto Region of northern Italy. It is known as "The Pearl of the province of Treviso", and also as "The City of a Hundred Horizons" for its mountain settings. It is one of I Borghi più belli d'Italia.

Santa Cristina al Tiverone Altarpiece is an oil-on-panel painting by the Italian Renaissance painter Lorenzo Lotto, executed around 1504–1506. It is still housed in its original location, the parish church of Santa Cristina in Quinto di Treviso, a frazione of Treviso, northern Italy.

The Pesaro Altarpiece is an oil-on-panel painting by the Italian artist Giovanni Bellini, dated to some time between 1471 and 1483. It is considered one of Bellini's first mature works, though there are doubts on its dating and on who commissioned it. The work's technique is not only an early use of oils but also of blue smalt, a by-product of the glass industry. It had already been used in the Low Countries in Bouts' 1455 The Entombment, but this marked smalt's first use in Italian art, twenty years before Leonardo da Vinci used it in Ludovico il Moro's apartments in Milan in 1492. Bellini also uses the more traditional lapis lazuli and azurite for other blues in the work.
Virgin in Glory with Saints is an oil painting on panel executed ca. 1510–1515 by the Italian Renaissance master Giovanni Bellini and probably also his studio, now in the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice. It measures 3.5 m by 2.25 m and shows the Assumption of Mary, which is usually shown witnessed by the apostles; here it is instead seen by Saint Mark, John the Evangelist, Saint Luke, Francis of Assisi with the stigmata, Louis of Toulouse as a young bishop, Anthony the Great, Augustine of Hippo and John the Baptist.
Adoration of the Shepherds is a c.1534 oil-on-canvas painting by the Italian Renaissance artist Lorenzo Lotto, signed "Lottus" and now in the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo in Brescia. Its dating is based on stylistic motifs such as the naturalistic details similar to those of the Recanati Annunciation. It also shows similarities to nativities painted around the same time by Girolamo Savoldo, whom Lotto met in Venice. It seems to have been commissioned by Braccio II and Sforza Baglioni, two noblemen from Perugia, who were the models for the two shepherds. They may have met the artist in the Marche during a pilgrimage to Loreto. A ring on Mary's right hand is probably an allusion to the Holy Ring, a relic in Perugia Cathedral, which supports the idea that the work was produced for that city. This provenance is solely based on an account from 1824 by the art dealer who that year sold it to Paolo Tosio, a count from Brescia.
St Antoninus Giving Alms or The Alms of St Antoninus is an oil-on-canvas painting by the Italian artist Lorenzo Lotto, created c. 1540–1542. It depicts Archbishop Antoninus of Florence giving alms as an allegorical ideal for bureaucratic charity. The painting is now displayed in the Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo in Venice.
The Entombment of Christ is a 1513–1516 oil-on-canvas painting by the Italian Renaissance artist Lorenzo Lotto, now in the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo. It originally formed the central predella panel to the artist's Martinengo Altarpiece at the church of Santi Bartolomeo e Stefano.
Christ Taking Leave of his Mother is an oil-on-canvas painting by the Italian Renaissance artist Lorenzo Lotto, dated to 1521 and now in the Gemäldegalerie, Berlin. It has several similarities with the small Christ Taking Leave of his Mother by Correggio now in London.
Madonna of the Rosary is a 1539 oil-on-canvas painting by the Italian artist Lorenzo Lotto, signed and dated below the Virgin Mary's feet ".L.LOTUS.MDXXXIX.".
The San Bernardino Altarpiece is an oil on canvas painting by Lorenzo Lotto, created in 1521, named after the chapel on Via Pignolo in Bergamo, for which it was commissioned by the 'Disciplinati', a lay confraternity. It still hangs in its original position. Lotto also worked on the Santo Spirito Altarpiece at around the same time for the Church of Santo Spirito in Bergamo.
The Santo Spirito Altarpiece is a 1521 oil-on-panel painting by Lorenzo Lotto, signed and dated "L. Lotus / 1521". The work shows the Madonna and Child with saints Catherine of Alexandria, Augustine of Hippo, Sebastian and Anthony the Great. At the foot of the throne is John the Baptist as a child with the Lamb of God.
The Ponteranica Altarpiece is a six-panel oil painting series produced by Lorenzo Lotto in 1522, commissioned by the Scuola del Corpo di Cristo for the parish church of San Vincenzo e Sant'Alessandro in Ponteranica, where it still remains. Its upper register shows the risen Christ flanked by an Annunciation scene, whilst below is John the Baptist flanked by saints Peter and Paul.
The San Domenico di Pesaro Altarpiece is an oil-on-panel painting created ca. 1524–1526 by the Italian Renaissance artist Giovanni Girolamo Savoldo, now in the Pinacoteca di Brera, in Milan. The work dates to the same period as Savoldo's Rest on the Flight into Egypt, also produced for San Domenico. It shows the Madonna and Child seated between two angel musicians, while in the lower register it shows Saint Peter, Saint Dominic, Saint Paul and Saint Jerome.
The St John Chrysostom Altarpiece is a 1510–1511 oil on canvas painting by Sebastiano del Piombo, that is kept in San Giovanni Grisostomo, Venice. It belongs to the sacra conversazione genre.
The Prague Altarpiece of Lucas Cranach the Elder portrays the Virgin Mary and female saints was, at the time it was made, the second most important altarpiece in St Vitus Cathedral. The altarpiece was most probably brought to Prague as a commission by Emperor Maximilian I. The reason for this could have been the betrothal of his granddaughter Mary to Louis II of Hungary, the engagement of Ferdinand I and Anna Jagiellon (1515) or the coronation of Mary of Habsburg as Queen of Bohemia (1522). A hundred years later, in 1619, the altarpiece fell victim to Calvinist iconoclasm. The figures of the female saints were cut out of it and its central part was destroyed.
The Suardi Chapel is an oratory or private chapel inside the villa in Trescore Balneario, Province of Bergamo owned by the Suardi counts. It is dedicated to Saint Barbara and Saint Brigid and was completely rebuilt by the cousins Giovan Battista and Maffeo Suardi. It was fully covered in 1524 by frescoes commissioned by them from Lorenzo Lotto of Christ the Vine and Lives of the Saints. In the 19th century, count Gianforte Suardi built a corridor connecting the chapel to the villa and modified the chapel entrance – those entering had previously immediately found themselves in front of the north wall with its depiction of Christ the Vine.
