Women's 100m races for blind & visually impaired athletes at the 2004 Summer Paralympics were held in the Athens Olympic Stadium. [1] Events were held in three disability classes.

2004 Summer Paralympics

The 2004 Summer Paralympics, the 12th Summer Paralympic Games, were a major international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities governed by the International Paralympic Committee, held in Athens, Greece from 17 September to 28 September 2004. 3,806 athletes from 136 National Paralympic Committees competed. 519 medal events were held in 19 sports.

Ádria Santos Brazilian paralympic athlete

Ádria Santos is a retired Paralympic sprinter from Brazil. Born nearly blind, she completely lost her vision by 1994. She competed in category T11 events at six consecutive Paralympics from 1988 to 2008 and won at least one medal on each occasion. She was a final torch bearer at the 2016 Summer Paralympics opening ceremony.

Assia El Hannouni, born May 30, 1981 in Dijon, is a French track and field athlete who specialises in the 800 metres Paralympic sprint. She has Retinitis pigmentosa which means that she is almost blind, with less than one tenth vision in her left eye, and zero in her right eye. She also runs against athletes without disabilities, in 800m sprint events.

France competed at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, Greece. The team included 136 athletes, 106 men and 30 women. French competitors won 74 medals, 18 gold, 26 silver and 30 bronze to finish 9th in the medal table.
