Atmedia Czech is a Czech media company that commercially represents approximately 30 thematic TV stations. Most of the company's portfolio consists of localized television channels of multinational television groups that needed a partner who would help with sale of advertising space and with orientation on the Czech TV market. [1] It was founded in 2008 and currently is fourth largest television group. [2] [3] Cyprus companies VM Media Investment and VME Virtual Media & Entertainment Limited are owners of Atmedia. [4]

History

Atmedia Czech started in September 2008. [5] [6] It was originally part of Polish Atmedia Group and was owned by Polish company Atmedia. [7] In 2009 Atmedia represented 12 channels and became part of official measures of television ratings. Atmedia had 0.76% share. It eventually grew to approximately 30 channels and 5.8% share by 2023. [1] In 2015 Petr Majerik left the position of company's director was replaced by Michaela Vasilová. [8] [9] In 2017 Atmedia was bought by Cypriot company VM Media Investment. [10] Int 2018 Cartoon Network became part of Atmedia. [11] In 2019 Atmedia acquired right to sell advertisement on Czech AMC. [12] Atmedia started cooperation with M7 Group in 2021. [13]

It is the first private TV channel in the Czech Republic and the former Czechoslovakia.

Television was introduced in Czechoslovakia in 1953. Experimental projects with DVB-T started in 2000. Finally on 21 October 2005, multiplex A (DVB-T) was launched with three channels of Česká televize and one of TV Nova and radio channels of Český rozhlas.

Tvoje tvář má známý hlas is a Czech reality singing series that is aired on Nova. It is both based on the Endemol format Your Face Sounds Familiar and an adaptation of the Spanish "Tu cara me suena." The show was first broadcast on March 26, 2016, and is still aired. The show involves eight or ten celebrities portraying various iconic singers each week to win 25,000 CZK for their chosen charity.

The King of Šumava: The Phantom of the Dark Land is a 2022 three-part adventure miniseries directed by David Ondříček and produced by the production company Lucky Man Films. The series was filmed under the brand Voyo Original. The script was written by Tomáš Vávra and David Ondříček.

Vinaři (Winemakers) is a Czech television series from Prima televize. It is set in South Moravia and was broadcast by Prima station from 31 August 2014 to 13 December 2015. It was written by Petr Kolečko. This is the third series of this television in 2014.[4] The first season had a total of 16 episodes, which aired from late August to mid-December 2014 every Sunday in prime time. The subtitle reads: "A series about wine and the people around it". The opening song "Wine" is performed by the band Chinaski. On 9 June 2015, the preparation of the second season was confirmed, and the broadcast of which began on 30 August of the same year. With the transfer of the story from South Moravia to Polabí, the opening song also underwent textual changes.

Vraždy v kruhu is a Czech crime television series directed by Ivan Pokorný and starring Ivan Trojan, Richard Krajčo and Hana Vagnerová. It is based on the script by Ivy Procházková.. The specifics of the series is the connection of criminal stories with astrology. It consists of 12 episodes which form the skeleton of 12 different crimes committed from motives that are attributed to the 12 signs of the zodiac. Czech Television prepared it for its premiere broadcast on 5 January 2015, in the main Monday evening slot which is established for detective stories. The last episode aired on 23 March 2015.

Podhradí is a monthly podcast hosted by Michal Půr as he interviews Czech President Petr Pavel. First episode was released on 22 March 2023. Each episode is 30 minutes long. It is available on YouTube and Spotify. Author of the podcast is Michal Nýdrle who is part of Pavel's team. Podcast was criticised for choice of moderator who works in CNN Prima News and in a conservative server Info.cz. Some journalist stated that Pavel should have chosen a public media moderator. Left-wing social liberal server A2larm criticised choice as it considers Půr to be a "climatic desinformator."

<i>Slunečná</i> (TV series) Czech TV series or program

Slunečná is a Czech comedy and relationship television series that premiered on January 11, 2020 on the Prima. The first episode called "Sázka" (Bet) was the most watched program of the day and surpassed the competing Czech TV program Peče celá země. 14 January 2020, it also beat the series Ordinace v růžové zahradě 2. Filming of the series began in August 2019. Slunečná replaced the Krejzovi series in the broadcast. As of February 4, 2020, the sponsorship of the Sunny series is the most expensive of the Prima television programs. According to the available data, as of February 14, 2020, the series has the highest delayed viewership on computers and on TV. In Slovakia, JOJ TV broadcast the series from 25 August 2020 to 4 September 2020 under the name Slnečná. Only 4 episodes were broadcast due to low viewership. On October 22, 2021, Hungarian station ATV began broadcasting the series under the name Napfényes falunk, which can be loosely translated as "Our Sunny Village", with Hungarian dubbing.
