The BMW M3 DTM is a DTM touring car constructed by the German car manufacturer BMW. It was developed in 2010 and has been raced in DTM seasons since their return to the sport after 20 years absence in 2012 until the end of 2013 season before it was succeeded by BMW M4 DTM. It was designed by BMW chief engineer Dominic Harlow. The M3 DTM was based on E92 production car.
BMW began development, design and construction of the BMW M3 DTM in October 2010 alongside the announcement of BMW return to DTM for 2012 season. [1] The first chassis was assembled in mid-2011, with the first vehicle completed in late 2011. [2]
The BMW P66 engine in the BMW M3 DTM generates approx. 480 bhp with the air restrictor specified in the technical regulations.
With the homologation of the M3 DTM completed on March 1, 2012, the car's race debut was at the 2012 Hockenheimring DTM round on April 29, 2012.
As of 2017, BMW M3 DTM scored ten victories, nine poles, seven fastest laps, two constructor title and one driver titles (courtesy of Bruno Spengler in 2012).

Racing Bart Mampaey is a racing team based in Mechelen, Belgium that runs the BMW Team RBM operation in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. Previously the team had been racing in the European Touring Car Championship and World Touring Car Championship.

René Rast is a German professional racing driver and the 2017, 2019 and 2020 DTM champion. He is currently competing in Formula E with McLaren and previously drove for Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler from 2019 to 2021 before Audi left the sport at the end of 2021. He claimed overall wins at the 2012 and 2014 24 Hours of Spa, 2014 24 Hours of Nürburgring and a class win at the 2012 24 Hours of Daytona.
Thomas Leonard Blomqvist is a New Zealand-based, Britain-born Swedish professional racing driver. He competes in the IMSA SportsCar Championship with Meyer Shank Racing. Blomqvist also competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship with United Autosports in the LMP2 category. Blomqvist won the 2022 and 2023 24 Hours of Daytona with Meyer Shank and the 2018 24 Hours of Spa with BMW Motorsport. He is the son of 1984 Swedish World Rally Champion, Stig Blomqvist, and raced under a Swedish racing licence until March 2010.
Joseph F. Hand is an American professional racing driver who competes in sports car racing as a Ford factory driver. A former champion of the Star Mazda Series, Hand is the co-winner of the 2011 24 Hours of Daytona driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, the 2012 12 Hours of Sebring GT class for BMW Team Rahal, and the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans LMGTE Pro class for Ford Chip Ganassi Team USA driving the Ford GT.
The 2012 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters was the twenty-sixth season of premier German touring car championship and also thirteenth season under the moniker of Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters since the series' resumption in 2000. New regulations applied for the 2012 season. BMW returned to the championship for the first time since 1994. As of 2020, it was also the last time non-European driver to won the DTM title to date.

The season is scheduled to run from 6 May until 15 October over 18 races. René Rast won his first DTM championship after a total of nine events.
The BMW M4 DTM is a touring car constructed by the German car manufacturer BMW for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. It was developed in 2013, and partook in DTM races from 2014 to 2020. Two versions were made: a naturally-aspirated V8 car through 2018, and a turbo Class 1 version starting in 2019. The M4 DTM is based on the production model BMW M4 and replaced the BMW M3 DTM after the 2013 season.
The 2018 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters was the thirty-second season of premier German touring car championship and also nineteenth season under the moniker of Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters since the series' resumption in 2000. 2018 would be the final season for the traditional 4.0-litre V8 naturally-aspirated engine package that debuted in the inaugural reborn season; as the brand new engine package has been introduced for the following season as part of the "Class One Project" prospect with Japanese Super GT GT500 cars. 2018 also marked the final season for Mercedes-Benz in DTM due to Mercedes-Benz departing to FIA Formula E from the 2019–20 season and thus ended its 19 year participation.

The BMW P66 Series is a prototype four-stroke 4.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 racing engine, developed and produced by BMW Motorsport in partnership with AC Schnitzer for Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. BMW P66 Series was unveiled on 18 July 2011 alongside BMW M3 DTM (E92) machine at BMW Welt in Munich, Germany. The BMW P66 Series engine lifespan was only lasted seven years and later permanently retired in 2019 and later restored in 2022 in order to supply engines for BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDh machine.
