Babu Banarasi Das University (also known as BBD University) [1] is a private university with its main campus in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, established by Akhilesh Das in 2010 and named after his father Babu Banarasi Das, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. On 17 February 2011 the state legislature of Uttar Pradesh empowered it to award degrees.[ citation needed ]

The main campus of the university is located in Ayodhya road, a busy highway road. The campus has Ganesha temple at the entrance, large academic buildings and library, hostels for boys and girls, and a cricket ground.[ citation needed ]

Akhilesh Das Gupta was an educationist, professor, and Indian politician. He was the son of Freedom Fighter Babu Banarasi Das, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He was the president of Badminton Association of India, vice president of Badminton Asia Confederation, a member of the Executive Council of Badminton World Federation, and vice president of Indian Olympic Association.
