Republika Srpska is one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the other being the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located in the north and the east of the country and has a population of 1,228,423 people as of the 2013 census. Its largest city and administrative centre is Banja Luka, lying on the Vrbas river, and with a population of about 138,963 people.

The Čapljina Pumped-Storage Hydroelectric Power Plant is a pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant (PSHPP) or pumped hydroelectric energy storage power plant (PHESPP) type of hydroelectric power plant, whose powerhouse is situated underground near Svitava, in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It's one of country's largest hydroelectric power plants of any type, having an installed electric capacity of 420 MW.
Konjic is a city located in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of two entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located in northern Herzegovina, around 60 kilometres (37 mi) southwest of Sarajevo, in a mountainous, heavily wooded area, and is 268 m (879 ft) above sea level. The municipality extends on both sides of the Neretva River. According to the 2013 census, the city of Konjic has a population of 10,732 inhabitants, whereas the municipality has 25,148.

Balkana is an artificial lake located on the slopes of Lisina mountain, in the municipality of Mrkonjić Grad, entity of Republika Srpska, in the western part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The lake, actually, consists of two separate, though connected via small outcomes, basins, upper as larger and lower as smaller, with very small difference in water tables levels. Total area of both basins is 56.000 m2 (602.78 sq ft). Balkana gets its waters from several mountain springs and two small mountain streams, Cjepalo and Skakavac, while its outflow is Crna Rijeka (English: Black River), which runs through Mrkonjić Grad from south to north, and joins Vrbas after 17 km (11 mi).
Lejla Njemčević is an Italian-born Bosnian and Herzegovian cross-country and mountain bike cyclist. She was the overall winner of the cross-country marathon at the 2023 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup. Lejla is as well the first ever mountain bike rider from the Bosnia and Herzegovina to sign a contract for a professional cycling team. Lejla started racing at the age of 15 at local cycling club Klub brdskog biciklizma "Puls" for which team she is still riding. During her career she has won 35 races organised by the Union Cycliste Internationale. Lejla Njemčević is a nineteen time national champion in various disciplines and five time national league overall winner. On regional competitions she has won the Balkan Championships title five time in the row which makes her all time best Balkan rider. Lejla is a graduated student of Faculty of Law in Sarajevo with a master's degree in criminal law.
Skakavac Waterfall is located near Mrkonjić Grad in western Bosnia and Herzegovina. River Skakavac, from which occurs the mentioned waterfall is one of the small rivers that flow into the Balkana Lake.
