Baltimore Corner is a populated place on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, in Caroline County, Maryland, United States. [2] [3] It is near the Queen Anne's County line at the intersection of Maryland routes 312 and 313. It is not to be confused with Baltimore, located on the opposite shore of the Chesapeake Bay.

The crossroads is so named because of its position on the route to Baltimore locals often used prior to the construction of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Maryland Route 8 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known for most of its length as Romancoke Road, the state highway runs 8.37 miles (13.47 km) from Romancoke Pier in Romancoke north to MD 18 in Stevensville. MD 8 is the main north–south highway of Kent Island in western Queen Anne's County. The state highway is also the first highway encountered on U.S. Route 50 /US 301 east of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. South of Matapeake, MD 8 is paralleled by the Kent Island South Trail.

American Corner is a populated place in Caroline County, Maryland, United States. American Corner is home to Colonel Richardson High School and Colonel Richardson Middle School. On older maps, it is sometimes referred to as American Corners. Maryland Route 213 (MD 213) is a 68.25-mile (109.84 km) state highway located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the United States. The route runs from MD 662 in Wye Mills, Queen Anne's County, north to the Pennsylvania border in Cecil County, where the road continues into that state as Pennsylvania Route 841 (PA 841). The route, which is a two-lane undivided highway most of its length, passes through mainly rural areas as well as the towns of Centreville, Chestertown, Galena, Cecilton, Chesapeake City, and Elkton. MD 213 intersects many routes including U.S. Route 50 (US 50) near Wye Mills, US 301 near Centreville, and US 40 in Elkton. It crosses over the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal in Chesapeake City on the Chesapeake City Bridge. MD 213 is designated by the state as the Chesapeake Country Scenic Byway between the southern terminus and Chesapeake City with the portion north of MD 18 in Centreville a National Scenic Byway. In addition, the route is also considered part of the Atlantic to Appalachians Scenic Byway between Chesapeake City and MD 273 in Fair Hill.

Maryland Route 404 (MD 404) is a major highway on Maryland's Eastern Shore in the United States. Signed east-west, it runs 24.61 miles (39.61 km) from MD 662 in Wye Mills on the border of Queen Anne's and Talbot counties, southeast to the Delaware state line in Caroline County, where the road continues as Delaware Route 404 (DE 404) to the Five Points intersection near Rehoboth Beach. The Maryland and Delaware state highways together cross the width of the Delmarva Peninsula and serve to connect the Baltimore–Washington Metropolitan Area by way of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and U.S. Route 50 (US 50) with the Delaware Beaches. Along the way, MD 404 passes through mostly farmland and woodland as well as the towns of Queen Anne, Hillsboro, and Denton. The route is a four-lane divided highway between US 50 and east of Denton, with the remainder of the route a two-lane undivided road.

Maryland Route 313 (MD 313) is a state highway located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the United States. The 75.72-mile (121.86 km) route runs from U.S. Route 50 (US 50) in Mardela Springs, Wicomico County, north to MD 213 and MD 290 in Galena, Kent County. It is predominantly a rural two-lane undivided road that runs through agricultural areas a short distance west of the Delaware state line, with the exception of a four-lane divided bypass of Denton that is concurrent with MD 404. MD 313 serves many communities, including Sharptown, Eldorado, Federalsburg, Denton, Greensboro, Goldsboro, Barclay, Sudlersville, Millington, and Massey. The route intersects many major roads, including MD 54 in Mardela Springs, MD 404 in the Denton area, MD 302 in Barclay, MD 300 in Sudlersville, and US 301 near Massey.

Maryland Route 312 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs 11.41 miles (18.36 km) from MD 404 near Ridgely north to MD 313 at Baltimore Corner. MD 312 traverses northwestern Caroline County, connecting Ridgely with Bridgetown. The highway's first section was paved around Ridgely in the 1910s. The highway was completed from MD 404 to Ridgely in the mid-1920s and from north of Ridgely to Baltimore Corner in the late 1920s.

Maryland Route 285 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs 2.43 miles (3.91 km) from MD 213 east through Chesapeake City to the Delaware state line in southern Cecil County. MD 285 consists of two sections. The first section parallels the north side of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal; this portion was constructed around 1930. The other segment included sections of the main north–south highway through Chesapeake City, U.S. Route 213. Sections of the main highway were constructed in the mid-1910s and then in the mid-1920s concurrent with the second bridge across the canal. After US 213 was moved to MD 213's present course using the Chesapeake City Bridge in 1949, the old highway became part of MD 537. That portion of MD 537 was replaced by an extension of MD 285 to MD 213 in 1983.

Maryland Route 33 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs 23.17 mi (37.29 km) from Tilghman Island east to Washington Street in Easton. MD 33 connects Easton, the county seat of Talbot County, with all communities on the peninsula that juts west into the Chesapeake Bay between the Miles River and Eastern Bay on the north and the Tred Avon River and Choptank River on the south. The state highway passes through the historic town of Saint Michaels, home of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, and enters Tilghman Island by passing over Knapps Narrows on the busiest bascule drawbridge in the United States.

Andersontown is a populated place on Maryland's Eastern Shore in Caroline County, Maryland, United States. It is situated near the Delaware line, centered on the intersection of Andersontown Road and Maryland Route 404.

Two Johns, is an unincorporated community on Maryland's Eastern Shore in Caroline County, Maryland, United States. It is situated on Maryland Route 16. The name derives from an early resident who was a vaudeville actor, John Stewart Crossy. He toured with John Hart and a series of other girthy men as the "Two Johns" or the "Fat Men's Club" during the height of his popularity. The village appears on the 1897 Map of Caroline County.

Maryland Route 177 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Mountain Road, the highway runs 10.92 miles (17.57 km) from MD 2 in Pasadena east to Gibson Island. MD 177 serves as an arterial highway through Pasadena, Jacobsville, and the Lake Shore area of northeastern Anne Arundel County. The highway is paralleled by MD 100 through Pasadena and Jacobsville. MD 177 originally began near what is now its western intersection with MD 648, which was originally part of MD 2. A short section of the highway was built in Pasadena in the early 1910s. MD 177 was extended east through Jacobsville in the early 1920s and to Gibson Island in the late 1920s. The highway was extended west in the late 1930s after MD 2 was relocated to its present four-lane divided highway. A freeway section of MD 177 was constructed between MD 3 in Glen Burnie and MD 2 in the mid-1960s; the freeway was renumbered MD 100 when that highway was completed from Pasadena to Jacobsville in the early 1970s. Congestion east of MD 100 led to the addition of a reversible lane in 1999.

Maryland Route 21 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Tolchester Beach Road, the highway runs 2.42 miles (3.89 km) from MD 445 near Tolchester Beach east to MD 20 near Fairlee in western Kent County. MD 21 was constructed in the mid-1920s to provide a modern road connection to Tolchester Beach, then a major beach resort on the Chesapeake Bay. The highway's western terminus was rolled back to MD 445 in the early 1990s.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Maryland Route 667</span> State highway in Maryland, United States

Maryland Route 667 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs 17.61 miles (28.34 km) from Chesapeake Avenue in Crisfield east to U.S. Route 13 in West Pocomoke. MD 667 forms the old alignment of MD 413 from Crisfield to Hudson Corner in southern Somerset County. The highway has a curvaceously course through the villages of Hopewell and Marion Station while MD 413 passes them on a straight course. The portion of MD 667 between Hudson Corner and West Pocomoke serves the community of Rehobeth. This segment, which was built as Maryland Route 406, serves as a shortcut allowing traffic between Crisfield and Pocomoke City to avoid Westover at the junction of MD 413 and US 13. Portions of MD 667 are part of the Beach to Bay Indian Trail.

Maryland Route 261 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs 12.86 miles (20.70 km) from MD 263 near Parran north to MD 778 at Friendship. MD 261 connects Prince Frederick with and serves as the main street through the Chesapeake Bay beach communities of Chesapeake Beach and North Beach in northeastern Calvert County and Rose Haven in southeastern Anne Arundel County. The highway was constructed from north of its present terminus through Chesapeake Beach in the early 1930s. The road was built as MD 613 east from Friendship in the mid-1930s and extended east to Rose Haven in the late 1940s. MD 261 was extended south to its present terminus near Parran and north through North Beach to Rose Haven in the mid-1950s. MD 261 took over MD 613 west to Friendship in the early 1960s.

Hynson, is an unincorporated community on Maryland's Eastern Shore in Caroline County, Maryland, United States. The earliest record of its existence is from the 1875 Map of Caroline County, where it is referred to as Newhope. In the 1897 Map of Caroline County, it is referred to as Hynson. The Hynson Post Office was located there, which operated from 1881 to 1907.
