The Paralympic Games or Paralympics, also known as the Games of the Paralympiad, is a periodic series of international multi-sport events involving athletes with a range of disabilities, including impaired muscle power, impaired passive range of movement, limb deficiency, leg length difference, short stature, hypertonia, ataxia, athetosis, vision impairment and intellectual impairment. There are Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which since the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, are held almost immediately following the respective Olympic Games. All Paralympic Games are governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
Benin competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
Benin has sent athletes to every Summer Olympic Games held since 1980. Under its previous name of Dahomey, the country also competed in 1972. Despite appearing in twelve different Olympics, Benin has never won an Olympic medal. No athletes from Benin have competed in any Winter Olympic Games.
Benin took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics which were held in Beijing, China from 8 to 24 August 2008. The country's participation at Beijing marked its eighth consecutive appearance in the summer Olympics since its debut in 1972, and its ninth Olympic appearance ever. The Benin delegation included five athletes in 2008, participating in three sports: athletics, swimming and taekwondo. Fabienne Feraez, a sprinter, was selected as the flag bearer for the opening ceremony. None of the Benin athletes progressed further than the heat round.
Benin sent a delegation to compete at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. They were represented by one athlete, powerlifter Blandine Sahenou.
India made its Summer Paralympic debut at the 1968 Games, competed again in 1972, and then was absent until the 1984 Games. The country has participated in every edition of the Summer Games since then. It has never participated in the Winter Paralympic Games.
Pakistan first participated at the Paralympic Games in 1992, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Paralympic Games since 1992. Pakistan has won three medals, a silver, a bronze and a gold medal in the Paralympic Games, all three medals coming courtesy of Haider Ali in the Men's Long Jump event at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing and the 2016 Rio Summer Paralympics and Men's Discus Throw at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Paralympics.
Russia has competed at the Paralympic Games as different nations in its history. The nation competed as part of the Soviet Union at the 1988 Summer and Winter Games, while after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, Russia competed as part of the Unified Team in 1992. The nation competed for a first time as Russia at the 1994 Winter Paralympics and since then they participated in every summer and winter edition up until the 2014 Winter Paralympics.

Benin competed at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, United Kingdom from August 29 to September 9, 2012. The athlete delegation consisted of one athlete, Constant Kponhinto, who competed in the men's Shot Put F57-58 event, finishing 17th overall with a best throw of 8.25 meters.
Benin competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7 September to 18 September 2016. The country was represented by one sportsperson, Cosme Akpovi, competing in the men's javelin F57 event where he finished thirteenth. The Games were not broadcast in Benin.

Benin competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the nation's twelfth appearance at the Summer Olympics, with the exception of the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal because of the African boycott.

The 2020 Summer Paralympics opening ceremony took place on 24 August 2021 at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. The theme of the opening ceremony was "Moving Forward: We Have Wings" and thus surrounded the theme of aviation, airplanes, airports, and everything that involved air travel.
During the Parade of Nations at the opening ceremony of the 2020 Summer Paralympic Games, athletes from each participating country paraded in the Japan National Stadium, preceded by its flag and placard carrier. Each flag bearer had been chosen either by the nation's National Paralympic Committee or by the athletes themselves.
Angola will be participating at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, from 24 August to 5 September 2021. This will be their seventh consecutive appearance at the Summer Paralympics since 1996.
