The Birmingham Cup is a greyhound racing competition inaugurated in 1939 [1] and held annually at the Old Perry Barr Greyhound Stadium until the closure of the track in 1984. [2] The competition was one of the leading events in the Midlands and was brought back in 1992 and was held at the new Perry Barr Stadium until the decision was made to discontinue the event in 2009. [3]

Contents

The event was held over the standard distance (the most common distance held at a track) [4] and winners included the 1946 English Greyhound Derby champions Mondays News. [5] [6]

In 2020 the competition was brought back in memory of Michael Lambe Senior.

Belle Vue Stadium Greyhound racing track in Manchester, England

Belle Vue Stadium was a greyhound racing track in Belle Vue, Manchester, England, where the first race around an oval track in Britain was held on 24 July 1926. It has also been used for motorcycle speedway, as the home ground of Elite League team Belle Vue Aces from 1988 until 2015, and from 1999 until 2019 for stock car racing and banger racing.

Perry Barr Stadium

Perry Barr Stadium is a stadium and a Greyhound Board of Great Britain regulated greyhound racing track on Aldridge Road in Perry Barr, Birmingham, England. The track is operated by the Arena Racing Company (ARC), who lease it from owners the National Asset Management Agency. Racing takes place every Saturday evening, in addition to their four ARC fixtures.

Monmore Green Stadium

Monmore Green Stadium is a greyhound racing and speedway stadium located in Wolverhampton. The stadium has private suites, a restaurant and a number of bars. The venue is owned and operated by the Ladbrokes Coral group.

Scurry Gold Cup

The Scurry Gold Cup is an original classic greyhound competition currently run at Perry Barr Stadium.

The Ladbrokes Puppy Derby is a greyhound competition held at Monmore Green Stadium. It was inaugurated in 1943 and was originally known as the Midland Puppy Championship and then the Midland Puppy Derby.

The All England Cup is a greyhound racing competition held annually. It was inaugurated in 1938 at Brough Park later known as Newcastle.

The Northern Flat is a greyhound racing competition held annually at Newcastle Stadium. The event was switched to Newcastle in 2021 following the closure of Belle Vue Stadium where it had been held from 1927 until 2018.
