The Coronation Stakes was a greyhound racing competition held annually at Wembley Stadium. It was inaugurated in 1928, one of the earliest competitions in greyhound racing. [1] The race was one of the premier bitches only event in the UK greyhound calendar. [2] [3]

The original Wembley Stadium was a football stadium in Wembley Park, London, which stood on the same site now occupied by its successor, the new Wembley Stadium. The demolition in 2003 of its famous Twin Towers upset many people worldwide. Debris from the stadium was used to make the Northala Fields in Northolt, London.

The competition came to an end following the closure of the Wembley Greyhounds by the Greyhound Racing Association and the sale of the stadium by their parent company Wembley plc. [4] [5]

The Greyhound Racing Association is a UK-based private company founded in 1925 and involved in the management of sports venues, notably greyhound racing stadia. The company now trades as GRA Acquisition following the sale of the GRA by parent company Wembley plc in 2005.
