Blue Dart Express is an Indian logistics company that provides courier delivery services. [2] [3] [4] It is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. [5] It has a subsidiary cargo airline, Blue Dart Aviation that operates in South Asian countries. [6] In 2002, Blue Dart had a business alliance with DHL Express and on 8 November 2004, DHL Express invested €120 million in it, and since then has been a major shareholder in the company. History

Blue Dart was founded by Tushar Jani (chairman) and his friends Khushroo Dubash and Clyde Cooper in November 1983. [11] [12] In its early years, Blue Dart had a business agreement with Gelco Express International, UK, for the operations of international air package express services from India. [13]

In 2010–11, it introduced ′cash on delivery (COD)′ to its customers as an additional payment option for its courier services.

Blue Dart Aviation is a cargo airline based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It serves 7 Indian metro cities with its main base as Chennai International Airport. German courier company Deutsche Post owns a 70% stake in the airline through its subsidiary Blue Dart Express. It provides service in 220 plus countries and territories all over the world through their parent company's parcel service DHL. Blue Dart opened its dedicated cargo facility at Mumbai airport near Terminal 1 on 7 February 2019. The facility measures 4,300 m2 (46,000 sq ft) and has air-side and city-side access, allowing for faster transfer of shipments.

Tushar Kumudrai Jani or Tushar Jani is a business entrepreneur, investor, philanthropist and the founder of Blue Dart Express Limited and Blue Dart Aviation, Swift Freight and Express Industry Council of India (a courier and express cargo business association of all Indian companies). Swift Freight is India's first NVOCC business operator with a FMC registration in US, and Express Industry Council, is the first private custodian of courier loads in India, managing control over operations.
